Amanda’s post just reminded me, but I’ll be moderating a panel at Netroots Nation called Different Tones and Wider Nets, with a panel of stars, from the moderately shrill to the intensely shrill:
We’ll also be co-hosting a party the last night of NN with one Mr. Jim Hightower, who you may know from such awesome things as being Jim Hightower.
I’ll also use this space to point out two more things. First, starting tomorrow, I’ll be starting a five-week stint posting yet more original material at Art of the Possible and two, until the end of August, I’m sitting at home basically writing all day. So if anyone needs other things written - articles, greeting cards, ransom notes - I am available. And I smell good.
UPDATE: Pam will also be doing the scariest panel ever. Well, the scariest NN panel ever. I’m sure that virtually anything on the National Review cruise would scar most of us permanently.

Heading towards Cincinnati for the National Women’s Studies Association conference. Which means blogging might be a bit haphazard over the weekend. For those who are attending, the general plan is that I’m helping Seal Press with tabling, so stop by and say hi.
Meanwhile, I’m linking to this post of copyranter’s about some HIV prevention ads from France that show, as usual, that the French aren’t quite like us. In a good way. The ads are, in case you haven’t guessed, NSFW. Just was curious about people’s opinions on them.

If anyone out there has a Mac-compatible copy of Photoshop they’d be looking to get rid of cheap, e-mail me.
We are in dire need of self-made internet macros.

I reviewed some anti-choice songs on this week’s podcast, with clips and everything. You have rap, heavy metal, and of course, wretched pop. Music snobbery mixed with reproductive rights—-I had a blast making it. Except for the part where I actually had to comb through anti-choice music for clips.

In a pure coincidence that is nonetheless pretty damn funny, the same day I put up a satirical bleg asking for the NY Times or some similar magazine to profile me, I got a request from the LA Times to do their week-long Dust Up column. It’s one of those back-and-forth things, and the topic is feminism and politics. I was concerned they’d put me up against someone anti-feminist and I’d be spending all my time knitting my brows in irritation, but luckily, the other writer is Katha Pollitt. You can read the first day here.
You know, if nobody’s going to discuss what’s going on in the Democratic primary, I suppose I’m gonna have to.
UPDATE: If you want to know what I’ve actually been up to, here’s my bio.

Cool panda picture on a hot day.
I’m extremely excited about the new changes afoot here at Pandagon. We’ve had a server change, a software change (Wordpress to Expression Engine, for those curious), and a complete redesign to bring the site looking both modern and with the retro flair that pretty much defines what’s modern now. But that’s just the beginning of the changes we’re going to see during this summer. We’re looking at the biggest changes we’ve faced in three years, and I for one think this is going to be a bigger, more badass Pandagon that lives up to the badassery of our animal of inspiration.
