Look at this batsh*t crazy Human Events ad on the pending repeal of DADT. Well, clearly this is the kind of crap that the Obama administration and Congress fear—and what is causing them to call for more study and to say it will be "several years" before implementing the repeal of DADT in the WaPo:
The Defense Department starts the clock next week on what is expected to be a several-year process in lifting its ban on gays from serving openly in the military.
A special investigation into how the ban can be repealed without hurting the morale or readiness of the troops was expected to be announced Tuesday by Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
While the review is likely to take the better part of this year to complete, and even more time to implement, its initiation will advance President Barack Obama's goal of repealing the ban and bring a divisive issue for the military back to the fore.

URGENT NEW PETITION: SELECT HERE TO SIGN AND DEFEND OUR TROOPS AGAINST OPEN HOMOSEXUAL AGGRESSION, and we will fax your personalized petition to all 100 Senators and 435 Congressmen, (saving you hours of labor!)
OBAMA ENDANGERS TROOPS LIVES by REPEALING "DON'T ASK-DON'T TELL"
President Obama pledged in his State of the Union Address to promote open homosexual aggression within the ranks of the military, by directly recruiting Congressmen and Senators in 2010 to overturn the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law that saves troops lives andalready guarantees equality. Ignoring a letter signed by over 1,150 retired military flag and general officers, who asked Obama to enforce the 1993 Clinton-era law that currently prohibits open homosexual aggression in the military, Obama instead sacrificed military readiness, unit cohesion, and safety of all American troops, to prioritize his special relationship with less than 1% of the American population who claimed to be homosexual in the last census.
"This year, I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay men and women the right to serve the country they love," Obama boldly misled, repeating the vow he made during a speech Oct. 10th before a gay rights group. (The truth is homosexuals already now have the right to serve, so long as they keep their sexual aggression to themselves.) "If you adhere to our common values, you should be treated no different than anyone else," Obama said oxymoronically, defining "equality" and "values" as a sudden endorsement of illegal acts of sod omy long banned by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Joint Chiefs sat stone-faced silent, aghast at Obama's plan, but powerless to publicly oppose their own Commander-In-Chief. We must be their voice…
And now we have to cope with theocrat arms manufacturers. What Would Jesus Do, indeed—lock and load, apparently.
Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the U.S. military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.
The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.
...Trijicon confirmed to ABCNews.com that it adds the biblical codes to the sights sold to the U.S. military. Tom Munson, director of sales and marketing for Trijicon, which is based in Wixom, Michigan, said the inscriptions “have always been there” and said there was nothing wrong or illegal with adding them. Munson said the issue was being raised by a group that is “not Christian.” The company has said the practice began under its founder, Glyn Bindon, a devout Christian from South Africa who was killed in a 2003 plane crash.
Are some in the military angry at this prosyletizing? Sure. But then there are some who are thrilled about guns for God, and they are in charge:
[Michael “Mikey” Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation], an attorney and former Air Force officer, said many members of his group who currently serve in the military have complained about the markings on the sights. He also claims they’ve told him that commanders have referred to weapons with the sights as “spiritually transformed firearm[s] of Jesus Christ.”
***
If that isn’t bad enough, in an ABC followup piece, “Marine Corps Concerned About ‘Jesus Guns,’ Will Meet With Trijicon,” we see just how compromised the thinking is in high levels of the military. Mind-blowing:
“We are aware of the issue and are concerned with how this may be perceived,” Capt. Geraldine Carey, a spokesperson for the Marine Corps, said in a statement to ABC News. “We will meet with the vendor to discuss future sight procurements.” Carey said that when the initial deal was made in 2005 it was the only product that met the Corps needs.
However, a spokesperson for CentCom, the U.S. military’s overall command in Iraq and Aghanistan, said he did not understand why the issue was any different from U.S. money with religious inscriptions on it.
“The perfect parallel that I see,” said Maj. John Redfield, spokesperson for CentCom, told ABC News, “is between the statement that’s on the back of our dollar bills, which is ‘In God We Trust,’ and we haven’t moved away from that.”
I don’t even know where to begin with that delusional thinking. I realize that at its core, both are Constitutional no-gos, but there is no comparison to it being on currency vs a weapon transmitting a message of both violence and religion in a military conflict where we’re already accused of infusing it with theocratic bullshit courtesy of BushCo.
How can a “man of God” be so evil. There’s no other word for it. We can laugh at his multiple blathering of batsh*ttery, but when he steps into the role of God’s Executioner, I cannot think of anything more Satanic than Pat Robertson. (via Political Carnival):
Of course you are, Pat… after you come out with outlandishly despicable statements about why Haiti has had to deal with so much death, so many troubles. See, according to Televangelist Pat it’s because they “swore a pact at the Devil” in order to free themselves from the French. “True story. So the devil said ‘okay, it’s a deal’”. That’s why this horrific earthquake took place. Haiti asked for it. Did you know that? Apparently this Pat Robertson does.
Pat says that medicine and food from his organization are on the way. Presumably his people will also be proselytizing to survivors that they need to turn from Satan as they are given rice, beans and bread, and medicine.
UPDATE: People For the American Way President Michael B. Keegan today condemned the statement made by Pat Robertson
Michael B. Keegan, president of People For the American Way, issued the following statement:
“Pat Robertson’s comments about the victims of this earthquake are reprehensible. Unfortunately, they fit right in with his history of mean spirited attacks accusing his opponents of causing natural disasters and terrorism. To blame the victims of this disaster for what they’ve been through is appalling. Regrettably, Pat Robertson can’t be written off as an eccentric aberration of the right-wing—he’s still a leading figure in the conservative movement.
“At a time when our attention should be focused on helping the victims of this disaster, Robertson’s comments are beyond the pale.”
UPDATE 2: Fox News’s Shepard Smith, the only voice of sanity at that network, called out Robertson, saying “They don’t need that” (Media Matters):
UPDATE 3:
Not to be topped by Pat, Rush Limbaugh proves yet again that he is a boil on the ass of society: “Obama will use Haiti to boost credibility with “light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country”
The event had Liberty and gay group GOProud as sponsors, and several fundies when into bully mode, declaring that CPAC should boot GOProud or they would threaten to withdraw, since the conservative gay or supports marriage equality, DADT repeal, etc.
Matt Staver has his knickers in such a wad at the lack of action against GOProud that he and fellow “Christian” conniptioneers, including Gary Bauer, signed Matt’s letter of rage to CPAC.
CPAC apparently said “see ya,” not even responding to Staver; they just read the missive and tossed it in the circular file. Oh, snap.
Staver reports that he never received a formal response to his complaint, so Liberty University is dropping its co-sponsorship. Liberty Counsel, however, will still have a booth at CPAC.
“Obviously as an exhibitor or participant, you don’t necessarily have to think that everyone agrees with you, and some people might even work against you,” Staver notes. “But as a co-sponsor, even though not everybody would have the same mission, not everyone would agree with the same tactics, and some would actually focus on economics whereas others might focus on social issues and others might focus on national defense - the fact is they’re all conservative in nature. You wouldn’t expect, however, a co-sponsor to actively work to undermine another co-sponsor, and that is in fact what GOProud does.”
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recently rejected an invitation from David Keene to speak at CPAC. According to a source close to Palin, the event is a forum that will put “special interests over core beliefs” and “pocketbook over policy.”
Oops. I love Liberty U’s face-saving maneuver of keeping Liberty Counsel’s booth at CPAC; apparently the lawyers can commiserate with the homos. A full withdrawal would be admitting they got jammed. They don’t want to start a trend of fundie drop kicking and additional infighting. If these clowns had not made a big deal out of the GOProud sponsorship in the beginning, there would be no news. The problem with these bible-beaters is that it’s “my way or the highway”—and that has, to date, always worked.
I wonder what Matt “Bam Bam” Barber, cultural affairs director at Liberty Counsel, will have to say?
Your blogmistress doesn’t get the love from The Peter anymore. I didn’t even make the cut for “Gay Grinch 2009” - that honor went to the “Hateful Dan Savage”. Porno Pete is still smarting over the witticism of Dan related to Little Ricky:
Only a perversion activist as twisted as Savage could stage a contest with his readers to come up with a sickening definition to associate with “santorum” — because he was upset that former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum (R) made comments critical of homosexuality (in 2003).
But it seems that LaBarbera hasn’t lost an iota of obsession over Dan. Witness this love note featuring the laughable diatribe of Peter’s BFF, Matt “Bam Bam” Barber, “Barber: The Crucifixion of Brit Hume.” PP salivates over an interview Dan did with Keith Olbermann, and calls for the NFL and NBC to drop Olbermann for criticizing Brit Hume’s pious advice for Tiger Woods to convert to Christianity.
Well, we extolled Brit Hume and his sage advice to Tiger Woods, so now we have to give you some of the hyperventilating comments from America’s reactionary secular bigots, headquartered at MSNBC, of course. That includes the left-wing network’s chief blowhard, Keith Olbermann, who joined self-described “radical sex-advice columnist faggot,”Dan (“Three-Way”) Savage, in ridiculing Hume’s heartfelt Christian outreach to Woods.
Why on earth is Olbermann still a TV commentator for NFL games (for NBC Sports)? Seems that if the NFL cannot tolerate Rush Limbaugh as an owner, why does it allow a mean-spirited, Christian-bashing, hard-left talker to be connected to the league in any way? Let’s see if we can help to change that. — Peter LaBarbera, www.aftah.org
“I am not saying everyone has to be Christian; this is not a homogenous nation. What you have to be is someone who believes in a Judeo-Christian ethic, in other words, in knowing there’s a right and wrong. Not all lifestyles are equal; not all religions are equal…My Lord made it very clear to me that I’m a cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values.” —The wisdom of Oklahomobigot, illegal pistol-packing legislator Sally Kern
Tee-hee. Of course she was referring to the HO-MO-SEXUALS in the above quote a few months ago, but as those of us who follow the radical hate agenda of the religious right on regular basis know, the fringe bigots have no problem going after divorce bans as well. And when I was pointed to this article by Blender Christopher G., it was no surprise that Oklahoma state legislator Sally Kern would be leading the charge in her state.
Scheduled for introduction in the 2010 legislative session by state Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, House Bill 2279 would restrict the “use of incompatibility as a ground for divorce” in Oklahoma.
The bill would not allow for divorce on the basis of incompatibility if:
* There are living minor children of the marriage * The parties have been married 10 years or longer * Either party files a written objection to the granting of a divorce
Note that the KOCO poll shows overwhelming disapproval for the bill—gee, do you think you’d see this level of disapproval (87%) for meddling with the rights of gay folks? Hmmmmm…NO.
The queen of queer-bashing, whose constituents in OKC apparently have all their needs met by Kern, remarked:
“Something is wrong when you can get out of a marriage easier than a loan for a car.”
She might want to take a gander at the state’s economy and whether her constituents can actually get a loan for a car. Sally is benevolent though—a divorce is ok if abuse or adultery are present.
This might be a nominee for the best fundie plea for cash this year. Talibangelist political operative is dealing from the bottom of the deck to ensure his wallet stays plump. This is an epic shameless begging for buxxx in the vein of the late Oral Roberts. (Columbus Dispatch via Right Wing Watch):
The Rev. Rod Parsley, megapastor and televangelist, has issued a desperate plea for money, telling his flock that he is facing a “demonically inspired financial attack” that is threatening his ministry.
Parsley is asking for donations by Dec. 31, calling that date an “unavoidable deadline” during an episode of Breakthrough posted yesterday on http://www.rodparsley.com Break.through is Parsley’s television show.A message titled “Crisis—Urgent” on the Web site says ministries such as Breakthrough and World Harvest Bible College are “in jeopardy.”
The headline of the appeal for donations reads: “Will you help me take back what the devil stole?”
Why is thy Rod in dire financial straits? Um…maybe it was that little lawsuit…
This year, the church settled for $3.1 million with a family whose son was spanked at its day-care center in 2006, to the point his buttocks and legs were covered with welts and abrasions.
The boy, then 2, said he was spanked with a “knife” by a substitute teacher. His parents, Michael and Lacey Faieta, believe it was a ruler. The Faietas said the payment was made this year. During yesterday’s Breakthrough broadcast, Parsley referred to a $3 million check he had to write from the ministry.
Inane laws are still on the books in a lot of places; in North Carolina it says in our state constitution that one must believe in God to hold public office. No one pays attention to this nonsense, of course…except the fool in Asheville who believes the newly elected members of the city council, who is an open atheist, should step aside. Bonus horror: the man making the charge is the former head of the Asheville NAACP.
Opponents of Cecil Bothwell are seizing on that law to argue he should not be seated as a City Council member today, even though federal courts have ruled religious tests for public office are unlawful under the U.S. Constitution.
“I’m not saying that Cecil Bothwell is not a good man, but if he’s an atheist, he’s not eligible to serve in public office, according to the state constitution,” said H.K. Edgerton, a former Asheville NAACP president.
Article 6, section 8 of the state constitution says: “The following persons shall be disqualified for office: First, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God.”
...Fliers mailed before the election criticized Bothwell over his atheism and his book, “The Prince of War,” which denounces evangelist and Montreat resident the Rev. Billy Graham for pushing what Bothwell says is a theocratic agenda.
Warren is not hesitant to interfere in international religious divisions or schisms. Though not Anglican, he has been a major player in providing American support to African Anglicans who are seeking to oust any affiliates from the Anglican Communion that make any accommodation for gay Christians.
...[He]’s no stranger to activism on behalf of legislation. Though he was not highly visible in supporting Proposition 8, he did not hesitate to instruct his flock – which does not stop at the walls of his church – to vote to take away the civil rights of their gay neighbors.
But Warren has now found the one exception to his political involvement. And that exception is the proposed Ugandan “Kill Gays” bill. Unlike virtually anything else that flickers across his attention, this piece of legislation just doesn’t rise to the level of requiring his involvement. That would be “interfering in the political process of other nations.”
Or maybe Rick Warren just doesn’t find it unethical on the part of leadership in Uganda to execute HIV positive gay people, incarcerate the rest for life, ban any form of activism that might object, and jail those family, friends, or acquaintances who fail to report their gay loved ones to the government.
Yes, let’s go to the videotape…
Warren’s moral judgment here only points out that hypocrisy knows no bounds—and this is the man who Barack Obama invited to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. Pillar of loving Christianity, Rick Warren. Does the White House have any comment about this? Will someone ask Robert “I know nothing” Gibbs at the daily presser?
And is it a coincidence that the Obama administration—in which Warren has a fan at the very top—has not spoken out loudly enough against what’s happening in Uganda and that the man who doles out the AIDS dollars (our taxpayer dollars, need I remind) on behalf of the president to Uganda, PEPFAR chief Eric Goosby, says pretty much what Warren says? According to Newsweek.com, Goosby says his job is “not to tell a country how to put forward their legislation.”
Goosby appears to be both ignorant of HIV/AIDS in Uganda, and determined to use taxpayer dollars to undermine the very same education programs that PEPFAR was created to support:
1. HIV/AIDS in Uganda is primarily a heterosexual phenomenon; Goosby falsely contends that it is a homosexual phenomenon that threatens the “general population.”
2. The Anti-Homosexuality Bill would criminalize key aspects of comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention education and imprison health-care workers who refuse to report sexually active gay patients to the police.
Goosby’s use of federal funds to subsidize the punishment of HIV/AIDS education and health-care workers, and to push LGBT Ugandans deep underground, is inexcusable. And the silence of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, regarding her subordinates’ support for violence in Uganda, is unacceptable.
Another day, another go-round with anti-choice nuts claiming there’s “no evidence” that they are motivated by hostility to female sexuality instead of pure fetal love. This time, I was arguing with them in the comments of a piece about how anti-choicers removed mandated contraception from health care reform. You do have to admire the audacity of a liar who is willing to stick to the lie in the face of clear-cut evidence you’re full of shit. That, or you have to assume they’re that stupid.
But I bring this up because in arguing with this dude, I had a revelation. I was reminded of a recent and fascinating episode of “This American Life” where they interviewed Jim Henderson, an evangelical who is critical of the standard tactics used to convert non-believers. Namely, he was upset by the bait and switch. He describes tactics such as using girls in bikinis to pass out fliers advertising a beach party, and then, when people show up looking for drinks (which of course were non-alcoholic) and entertainment, they got a whole faceful of Jesus. Or how he and his buddies were encouraged to pose as researchers doing a survey on religious practices, so that when people would tell them they don’t go to church, they’d use that as a hook to try to get them to come into theirs. Evangelical Christians are doing the live action version of being a virus inside an email that says “Check This Out!!” Henderson is more fond of building relationships and trust, and then bringing in the Jesus. Still not my ideal of people just making their arguments honestly and letting the chips fall where they may, but at least better than overt lying.
Talking to a full-of-shit anti-choicer, it occurred to me: According to Henderson, these sort of deceptive tactics are not only acceptable in evangelical circles, but they are eagerly promoted, and could even be called standard operating procedure. There’s some Biblical justification for it, and that’s all they need to know. In their mind, the end (saving souls) justifies the means (lying). In fact, I’d say that they are so invested in the belief of the all-encompassing rightness of their ends that they are inspired to up the ante on immoral means, to prove how fucking serious they are. (Certainly, that explains why evangelicals are so interesting in recruiting in China, where they and their converts are in serious danger if caught. A truly moral believer would figure that if sheer numbers of souls is the main thing, it’s better to go where you can do more converting with fewer consequences. But that’s not hardcore.)
What this said to me was that if evangelical Christians cannot be honest and straightforward about what they claim is the most important part of their lives—-their faith and saving souls—-then you can’t trust them on anything. Their subculture has inculcated a habit of not only justifying dishonest means to achieve dishonest ends, but in fact encouraging people to lie and feel better about themselves because they lied. Which makes a fucked-up sort of sense. Despite all the attention that immoral behavior gets, most people are mostly moral most of the time. Our society would come to a screeching halt if we couldn’t accept that most of what people tell us is true. For most people, the default is not to lie, steal, or harm. It actually takes some steeling of one’s self to complete a moral transgression like lying; most of us only do it if we feel we have to. Because of this, it’s easy to spin moral transgressions committed for a cause as acts of courage. (Think of how the military frames killing.) And so evangelicals have created a culture where people can applaud themselves as courageous warriors when they lie for Jesus.
But at this point, I think it’s beyond even that. Once you get into the belief that lying for Jesus is acceptable, then it’s easy to drift into thinking that truth itself is irrelevant, and that everything is means and ends. That’s why you get so many people like Sarah Palin, who say whatever they need to in order to get their way, but seem to be believing it at the time. Their frame of reference is “what you need to hear/not hear” not “what is true/false”. The latter drifted off on an ice floe a long time ago. Certainly, on the abortion issue you see this confusion. They’re obviously motivated by hostility to female sexuality, but doing things like proving this don’t even register. It’s been understood that fetuses are a good sales pitch, and the pitch is everything, and truth is irrelevant.
Hortense at Jezebel has an interesting article up about how the revelation that Carrie Prejean not only had a one-time sexual adventure in making a masturbation tape, but had a whole slew of them, is rocking the fundie world. At the end of the day, the one thing the fundies can’t take is a woman who gets caught having shameless sex that involves the woman taking pleasure in the physicality of it, instead of merely seeing it as a vehicle for man-pleasing. And boy-o, does masturbation do that. Prejean’s public disavowals of her “mistake” are so patently phony that even the fundies can’t ignore it; the sex tape revealed (along with the assholery of her former sex partner) that being a sex object like a beauty pageant queen is about sex. Dirty, female-orgasm-involving sex, too. And the fundies are having trouble dealing.
But it’s interesting, because reading the comments from livid, misogynist Christians, you have to ask yourself: Why on earth did they turn to this woman in the first place? You’d think the inherent dangers in embracing someone as an anti-sex icon when she parades around in a bikini, showing off her breast implants, would be rather obvious. But the reality of it is far more complicated than that. American fundamentalist Christianity is fascinating (and growing) in no small part because they are so determined to be both pious and enthusiastic about capitalism. And American capitalism is all about indulgence, because that makes money, and part of that is using female flesh to sell products. Or, as people like to say reductively, sex sells. But it’s not “sex” that’s used to sell, but a specific kind of sexual imagery, one that erases men’s bodies as objects of desire, and focuses strictly on highly airbrushed female ones. And modern American fundies, being highly pro-capitalist, have decided they can embrace the “sex sells” mantra to sell their own worldview, up to and including their anti-sex message.
It’s not as contradictory as it seems. The advertising industry version of “sex” is actually pretty prudish, as I theorized in my post at Double X about plastic surgery for female genitalia. Female bodies have to be sanitized and morphed to an unrecognizable shape before they can be deemed safe for sexual objectification. What I said then:
The airbrushed plastic perfection promoted by Playboy and Maxim magazine are to sex as EPCOT Center is to world travel: experience simulation for those too cowardly to truly dive in, but too egotistical to admit their cowardice.
Plastic surgery, airbrushed images, and the extremely lucrative hair removal market are our modern version of the menstrual hut—-ritual purification in order to prepare the female body for sexual use without getting the man fucking/looking at it dirty. Taboos prey on the human mind very easily, which is why the Brazilian went from unheard of 15 years ago to something that many young men feel is mandatory so that touching a ladygarden isn’t gross.
In this atmosphere, the Christian fundie tendency to fetishize virginity, and to use sexual objectification to sell itself and an anti-sex message makes perfect sense. On top of plastic surgery and Brazilian waxes, virginity is no big thing, right? That’s why our minds aren’t actually blown by a woman in high heels and a bikini talking up the strict Christian message about sexuality. They’ve been using sex to sell an anti-sex message for a long time now, actually. Tom Perotta satirized it in his book The Abstinence Teacher, where this abstinence lecturer gets up and vamps and coos and does everything in her power to make virginity seem sexy. And it’s effective, because the message isn’t all that different from what you see in a lot of porn, which is that female pleasure is about servicing male pleasure. The difference is you see women faking orgasms in porn because giving blow jobs is all they need to get off, and in the Christian fundie sales pitch, women’s pleasure is derived from being validated by marriage.
Women are for being virgins that can be fantasized about and put on a pedestal until they marry, and then they are for man-pleasing and baby-making. Anything that falls out of that is a threat, of course, but I suspect the fact that Prejean was masturbating on the tape was the final straw. Sure, she was doing it as a performance thing, and most of us don’t really see the issue. But in this tightly constricted fundie worldview, a woman masturbating shamelessly like that is probably seen as straight-up emasculating. Not that there is much she could do on a sex tape that wouldn’t be seen as self-indulgent sexual behavior, but masturbating probably blew all circuits. Maybe they’ll get over it, but I suspect she’s done.
I will point out that no fetuses were aborted, so once again, we’re forced to wonder why “pro-lifers” care so much, since it’s about “life”, isn’t it?
Remember the promises of Pastor Marc Grizzard, of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, NC? He was going to hold a BBQ and book burning of non-King James versions of The Good Book, including the Good News for Modern Man, the Evidence Bible, the New International Version Bible, the Green Bible and the Message Bible—all deemed as "Satan's Bibles" by the church.
Right Wing Watch reports that the best laid plans by these reality-challenged fundies…FAIL. In fact, RWW has nominated this for Worst.Book.Burning.Ever. Here's the rip-roaring backup plan (keyboard protection on, please).
[W]hen the big day came around, a combination of rain, protesters, and a state law against burning paper all conspired against them.
Amazing Grace Church had this to say about people who noted that God must intervened to stop the insanity.
We wanted to say that the Book Burning was a great success[.] We wanted to thank all the Bible doubters who prayed for rain with us. All the protestors and media got wet; we were inside where it was nice and dry[.] We are not glad people got wet, we are glad that His Word was honored. Some have written praising God that he intervened and stopped the Book Burning because of the rain, protestors, and state laws about burning paper. Nothing was stopped. Our goal was to destroy garbage as noted below, and we did just that. We didn't care how it was destroyed; only that it was destroyed. These same people must have never heard about "Paper, Rock, & Scissors." Scissors cut paper, and paper tears real easy. We destroyed everything as planned. Praise God! God answered every prayer that everyone prayed, but they don't like the answer.
Honest to god, it’s hard to take Washingon State-based homobigot Rev. Ken Hutcherson seriously. This is a man who stood up and said he was going to take down Microsoft by buying shares and dumping them, “putting the fear of god” into the Redmond, WA software company for not hating on the gays.
The former NFL linebacker and full-time anti-gay activist has penned a column in—irony alert here—American Thinker—that has to be read to be believed. He’s tired of people picking on his pal, Oxy procurer and all-around fetid radio gasbag Rush Limbaugh for his Obama the Magic Negro and “Child” moniker for the President pro-American values.
I have watched the news, I have seen television, and I have heard different commentators talk about my friend, all the while knowing the things they say are lies. I am proud to be an American and proud of the United States of America, and again this makes it personal to me. I not only see Rush Limbaugh and the conservative movement in this action being attacked, but the entire foundation of what made America great.
Freedom is under attack, and we as Americans need to wake up and stop this madness in the greatest nation ever formed.
Let’s talk about what seems to have happened to Rush Limbaugh. Here is a man who loves professional football almost as much as he loves America’s traditions, values, and heritage of liberty. Rush has dedicated his life to the study of both football and America. He understands America and superbly communicates his understanding with millions every weekday. He understands the game of football, and has influenced it positively by being its biggest fan. Yet Rush has suffered attempts to destroy him with lies, misunderstandings and a direct effort to eliminate his influence in America...over the pretext of what? A game?
Hutch goes on to make an insane, but passionate case for honoring slavery and the masterful white men who arrived on this continent’s shores and how their whips and subjugation of red, yellow, brown and black people in various ways hard work built this country. So damn unappreciated, says the reverend.
I truly believe that this is brought on by what I call the Minority Thought Pattern. Let’s not mince words: the Minority Thought Pattern is the total disdain and hatred of what God has accomplished through the white male throughout history. Coming from an African-American, I know this will shock you.
I am not minimizing the accomplishments of women, African-Americans, immigrants, the religious, or anyone else who is part of America. But the white male was here on Plymouth Rock for God to use, and the Pilgrims had a great belief in that God. The nation built out of their efforts, reflecting their values (most especially their religious values), has become the light of liberty for the world and an obstacle to those power-hungry individuals who hate it.
WT ever-loving F? I’m not minimizing the accomplishments of these minorities, but I’ll just go ahead now and do it. I think what we are seeing here is the Minority Lawn Jockey Thought Pattern, suffered from too much exposure to white evangelicals who prey on misguided, God-fearing black pastors from Washington State who sees them as his masters.
This is extremely personal to me. It’s about a friend. When I look at Rush, I don’t see a white man; I see a friend. I don’t see a talk show host (a very famous talk show host); I see a friend, and friendship overrides color and political stances. I don’t see a controversial figure, but a man whose heart and thoughts I know, and a man who is not a racist.
LIMBAUGH: As the economy performs worse than expected, the deficit for the 2010 budget year beginning in October will worsen by $87 billion to $1.3 trillion. The deterioration reflects lower tax revenues and higher costs for bank failures, unemployment benefits and food stamps. But in the Oval Office of the White House none of this is a problem. This is the objective. The objective is unemployment. The objective is more food stamp benefits. The objective is more unemployment benefits. The objective is an expanding welfare state. And the objective is to take the nation’s wealth and return to it to the nation’s quote, “rightful owners.” Think reparations. Think forced reparations here if you want to understand what actually is going on.
On the January 24 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh referred to Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and actress Halle Berry as “Halfrican American[s],” stating that “Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican American actress Halle Berry.” Limbaugh then said: ” ‘As a Halfrican American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry’s support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans,’ Obama said.” Limbaugh then conceded that Obama “didn’t say it.”
I guess the good Rev. only watches Faux News and doesn’t read up outside his boundaries. Psst, Hutch—Rush is a race baiter. Hope you sleep soundly at night and dream about your BFF’s open arms to the negroes.
Everyone has their price. The question is, was Rev. Hutch obtained during a find-an-anti-gay-black pastor fire sale?
Christians who believe they’ll vanish from Earth in the rapture can now hire an atheist to care for their pets.
For $110, Eternal Earth-Bound Pets offers a 10-year contract guaranteeing that an atheist will adopt the pet that’s left behind by its raptured owner. Additional pets can be covered for $15.
Eternal Earth-Bound Pets has guaranteed atheist reps in 22 states (NC is a new addition, as is GA).
We are a group of dedicated animal lovers, and atheists. Each Eternal Earth-Bound Pet representative is a confirmed atheist, and as such will still be here on Earth after you’ve received your reward. Our network of animal activists are committed to step in when you step up to Jesus.
You’ve committed your life to Jesus. You know you’re saved. But when the Rapture comes what’s to become of your loving pets who are left behind? Eternal Earth-Bound Pets takes that burden off your mind.
...Unfortunately at this time we are not equipped to accommodate all species and must limit our services to dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and small caged mammals. [Please note: we can now offer rescue services for horses, camels, llamas and donkeys in NH,VT, ID and MT ]
Oh, and if God takes you prior to the Rapture, there’s no refund: “In the event of the death of the subscribing pet owner prior to the Rapture the contract will remain in effect. EE-BP will continue to honor the contract for the remainder of the contract period. We do not adopt / rescue animals except as a result of the Rapture occurance.”
More, from the FAQs:
Q: Is this a Joke? A: No. This is a serious offer to our Christian friends who believe in the Second Coming and honestly care about the future of their pets after the Rapture occurs.
Q: Do YOU believe in the Rapture. A: As atheists we do not hold beliefs in the supernatural or a divine being. Thus, we do not believe in the Rapture. However, we respect the beliefs of others and are open to the possibility that our perspective could possibly be wrong.
Q: How do you ensure your representatives won’t be Raptured. A: Actually, we don’t ensure it, they do. Each of our representatives has stated to us in writing that they are atheists, do not believe in God / Jesus, and that they have blasphemed in accordance with Mark 3:29, negating any chance of salvation.
Well I hope that acceptably-blaspheming owner Bart Centre receives some endorsements from Focus On the Family, the Family Research Council, and Pat Robertson and friends, who have membership lists full of true believers in the Rapture that will benefit greatly from this service.
