I think both plots are pretty overblown.

The likelihood of either being succuessful is low, and hell, if they only had the rifles the walkie talkies and the camo, I’d say they were just methed up hunters, but the bulletproof vests and the disguies (as well as the weapons being stolen) makes this look a bit more serious.

the only real differece i can see between the two groups, other than numbers, is the second group [six men who went after a base…] were “Islamic” and the others were “purported meth-heads connected to bikers” - which after its processed and combined with the “supposed white supremests” lets one know that THESE boys are white. and stupid. but most white.

What worries me most about this plot isn’t the 2 redneck methheads, but the photo of the 3rd guy - Shawn Adolph, the guy who jumped out a sixth floor hotel window when the cops came a knocking.  His photo isn’t being shown as much (and my sad HTML skillz means I can’t link to it) but he DOES NOT look like a meth user, he looks like a professional criminal.  Like he was their manager.  I’ve heard he has warrants and is a career criminal, but he doesn’t fit the mold of addled meth head, and I wonder where a bunch of addicts get the $ for all this anyway, without someone bankrolling this misadventure.

Bikers? Didn’t a presidential candidate recently speak to a gathering of bikers? By the Ayers standard, that makes McCain guilty by association.

If these idiots were indeed ploting an attempt on Obama’s life they should rot in a prison cell until hell freezes over.  I’m not an Obama supporter but shit like this cannot and should not be tolerated.  These jackasses (if guilty) should never again see the light of day.

My favorite “threat” was the supposed Sears Tower bombers, whose terrorist group broke up because they couldn’t decide who was going to run the head shop that they were going to buy that was going to totally fund their terrorist activities.  Once they got around to buying said shop, that is.

If they hadn’t had an FBI handler to send them to Chicago with a video camera, we never would have heard of them until they managed to blow up their grandma’s garage by mistake.

These guys were caught without the mandatory year-long FBI investigation and payment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to their handler/informant/instigator. So there’s really no payoff in taking them seriously. That would just reward good police work.

I fear for Sen. Obama’s safety and think that he should be riding around in a pope-mobile. The Reich Wing is stirring up the loonies. If someone does succeed and public unrest and violence breaks out, the Reich Wing can spin this as liberal and minority lawlessness and push their typical law and order meme.

During the primaries I heard the claim that the libs were frightened because they knew if Obama didn’t get the nomination, the minorities would riot. They’re spinning the same insanity for the general election.

If they are able to steal yet another election (hence the BS poll data saying the race is close), I’ll be out in the streets raising hell.
