I have this big presentation I am supposed to do on thursday, on which a job may ride. and I am sitting here unable to do a damn things towards it because of all this election excitement. too much! just tell me who wins already!

I couldn’t comment either.  :-(  I know we have a firewall here at work, so I wonder if that’s the reason.

I’m stuck at work for another 2 hours so no drinking for me yet.  At home we have a chilled bottle of champagne if things go well and a couple bottles of rum if they don’t.  Either way, I’m working with a hangover tomorrow.

I feel proud today to experience seeing the first brown man be elected into High office in the USA. I was able to be part of history today, and I have never been more proud to be a citizen of the United States, than I have today. Just walked back from the Grant Park Rally and what can I say?

I’m absolutely speechless at the beauty of it all.

What a night.  I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, and I’ll always know that I stood not 100 yards away from the first African-American President-Elect of the United States as he humbly accepted his victory before a crowd of ecstatic supporters with that magnifecent Chicago skyline in the background.

Euphoria.  That’s the only feeling I know right now.

I’m in Johannesburg on business, hence 7 hours ahead of the East Coast. I have a couple of meetings I’ll have to do on no sleep whatsoever because I couldn’t turn off the TV nor go offline (thank G-d for BBC World News) but it’s definitely worth it. Happiest November since 1996, as far as I’m concerned.

Can’t wait to be done with work this afternoon/evening to talk to South Africans and see how they react to the news. Even though I’m traveling alone on this trip, I hope I won’t have to celebrate by myself tonight.

Nice work. Obama’s speech reminded me of The Prayers of the faithful, with the ‘Yes we can’ thing replacing Lord hear us. It’s cool that the audience caught on so quick, doing it even before he started that section of the speech.
