Barack Obama’s Penis Legislates It All

The new McCain ad:

Apparently, John McCain is now going after the sexual predator vote, which, hey, Mark Foley joke!  But no, really, to have to admire the chutzpah which lets you think it’s a good idea to attack someone who wants to prevent sexual abuse?  That’s what a maverick does…from his throne of child porn and old packages of Underoos. Which, at this point, I feel it is utterly responsible to say with 100% certainty John McCain owns and uses frequently.

One also has to wonder about the inherently perverted mindset the viewer’s supposed to have in watching this - my immediate assumption was that the legislation was about good touch/bad touch education.  What sick fuck is fantasizing about five year olds being taught how to have sex?  And why did John McCain hire them?

I would like people to come in here now and claim that McCain is not desperate.  I mean, seriously.  Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have just been taken over by the government because they have so many mortgage holders who can’t make their payments and you’re running on sex ed in the schools?  Really?

Comment #1: Mnemosyne  on  09/09  at  08:00 PM

Jesus, they’re desperate.

Comment #2: Ben D.  on  09/09  at  08:05 PM

Mnemosyne-

Their internals are sucking worse than the public polls. That much is clear. Look at McCain’s public behavior/choice vs. Obama staying calm.

Comment #3: Ben D.  on  09/09  at  08:05 PM

Check FiveThirtyEight tonight.  This is McCain’s post-convention bounce, his top point.  Not pretty for him, is it?

Comment #4: Doug H. (Fausto no more)  on  09/09  at  08:12 PM

What are you talking about Doug? This is excellent news for John McCain!

Comment #5: Ben D.  on  09/09  at  08:16 PM

SB 99 did not pass, so what’s the point here? No vote records are on the ilga.gov website. It got out of Obama’s committee—is that the point?

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09300SB0099lv&SessionID=3&GA=93&DocTypeID=SB&DocNum=0099&print=true

SB would have lowered the start of sex ed from 6th Grade to Kindergarten. It was sponsored by Carol Ronen, and co-sponsored by three Catholic moms and a Jewish dad.

If McCain objects to these provisions, I agree he must be pro-pedophile—what other basis would he have? Parents who don’t want their kids instructed in sex can opt out as they did before,  without consequences for their children.

It would be irresponsible not to.

Comment #7: Loneoak  on  09/09  at  08:25 PM

I especially liked that little dig at public education—ohnoes, Obama will take away your vouchers!  I’m guessing that’s what’s meant by the reference to “the public school monopoly”.  Which, uhhhh, guys, srsly, I’m pretty sure that the term “monopoly” cannot be used meaningfully as a description of a federally mandated public service.

Comment #8: The Opoponax  on  09/09  at  08:27 PM

Is it just me, or are these guys attempting to associate Jocelyn Elders with Barack?  Maybe this should be worrying.  As I recall, she was forced to resign.  I wonder if I’m the only one who thinks this is where they’re trying to go.  That whole thing was a long time ago, but my Rush listening parents were certainly outraged by her.

Comment #9: Jason  on  09/09  at  08:28 PM

Somebody make a you tube:

Senator Obama wanted your kids taught that it was illegal for adults to have sex with them.
Senator Obama wanted your kids taught that it was wrong to exploit others sexually.

But Senator McCain thought it was wrong for Barack Obama to want this.

What’s wrong with Senator McCain?

Comment #10: Hector B.  on  09/09  at  08:30 PM

Carol Ronen was my state senator! (Then she stepped down and my second cousin’s wife swept into the job. But that’s neither here nor there.)

Sex education for kindergartners might interfere with parents’ rights to teach their children that those things are called “pee-pees” and that they’re “filthy and shameful.”

Comment #11: Orange  on  09/09  at  08:31 PM

There are apparently people in the world who are so reality-challenged that they think Mr. Garrison is real and coming to their school.

We know where all the reality-challenged people go, now. And what kind of jobs they get.

The Oxi-Clean Guy was more than enough evidence already; this is ridiculous. Who can make a commercial this utterly wrong, with a lie this big, and not be ashamed of themselves?

You’d have to make your own reality, just so you wouldn’t die of shame. Apparently everyone’s out of step but John Bush.

Comment #12: CK  on  09/09  at  08:31 PM

And don’t miss the racial stuff, playing with ideas of black men as sexual predators, facial expressions out of context.

This is an outrageous ad.  I think its shocking.

Comment #13: Ann  on  09/09  at  08:32 PM

God damned Interstate Highway Monopoly.

Comment #14: Juan Stoppable  on  09/09  at  08:36 PM

lol, you guys dont get the picture do you?

most kids at age 5 cant even comprehensively to payed psychologists get across that they are being abused, in fact most kids are not even noticed as being abused or molested as children until creative writing processes come up in the education system.  how ignorant do you have to be to beleive the ramblings of an obvious left wing nutjob, yet not get ANY legitimate facts to back up your opinions.

mccain was illustrating the most widely acknowledge point about barack obama, that he is the least accomplished harvard alumni in history, not because he chose to be a community organizer or because he chose less monetarial jobs but because he has done so little with his duties.

if this is all that the MOST left wing blogs have to write about…then seriously who is in denial of thier chances?

Comment #15: dale  on  09/09  at  08:37 PM

Good point. Get some out of focus video of scraggly old white guys hanging out by a playground for background.

Concern troll is concerned.  Libertarian pretends to be liberal.

Since there was no reference to Elders, and her downfall had nothing to do with her positions on education policy or her support of sex ed in general but over her support of contraceptive distribution in public schools (as well as her stance on drug legalization), I don’t really see what you mean.  Other than the fact that she’s black and reality-affirming, just like Obama.

It’s also important to remember that Elders held an appointed position, not an elected one.

Comment #17: The Opoponax  on  09/09  at  08:46 PM

I’m not concern trolling Opoponax.

Elders absolutely was fired in response to a sex education issue.  Specifically it was the “teach masturbation” thing that got her canned.

McCain’s campaign has taken every opportunity to associate Obama with controversial African Americans .  I was just wondering if this was another example.

Also, I don’t know how you determined that I am a Libertarian from 1 comment, but I can assure you that’s not the case.

Comment #18: Jason  on  09/09  at  08:54 PM

“Mr. Garrison is real and coming to their school. “

Best.  Episode.  Ever.  Better than the Beavis & Butthead and King of the Hill versions of sex ed.

“Mmmkay, this part here is the vaginal opening…this is where the man puts his—Eric, what the hell are you doing?”
“I’m putting on a new condom…I filled the other one up.”

Comment #19: calvinhobbes  on  09/09  at  08:56 PM

I rarely get angry at ads, but this one makes me quite stabby. If I had any cash right now, it would be going to the Obama campaign. Fortunately, I get paid Friday, and while I won’t have much to spare, he’ll get a chunk of it.

Yes.  And since helping young children to recognize inappropriate sexuality and what to do if it ever happens to them is generally considered a good thing, introducing this as part of educational policy would also be a good thing.  One of the first Big Serious Talks I ever got from my mother was the one about how if a grownup touches you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, you should tell someone you trust like your parents or a teacher IMMEDIATELY, even if said grownup tells you not to.  I was probably about 5.  Not all children have enlightened and responsible parents who have time to impart things like this.  However, all children are required to attend school.  The answer seems obvious.

how ignorant do you have to be to beleive the ramblings of an obvious… nutjob,

Which is why we’re not listening to you.

mccain was illustrating the most widely acknowledge point about barack obama, that he is the least accomplished harvard alumni in history

1.  This ad has absolutely nothing to do with Obama’s accomplishments as compared to other Harvard alumni.

2.  Obama’s level of accomplishment vis a vis his alma mater is not among the “most widely acknowledge [sic] points” about him, among anyone who isn’t a mouthbreathing freeper (and probably not even among them).

3.  Those Harvard grads must be some serious overachievers if a legal professor with decades of political experience at multiple levels of government, including a seat in the US senate and a hard-won presidential candidacy, is the least accomplished person who ever graduated from there.  Do they just hand out a Nobel Prize to everyone who finishes with better than a 2.5 GPA, or what?

Comment #21: The Opoponax  on  09/09  at  09:00 PM

Elders absolutely was fired in response to a sex education issue.  Specifically it was the “teach masturbation” thing that got her canned.

Which was not her official policy on sex education, but the answer to a question at a world AIDS forum on whether she thought masturbation was an acceptable safe sex practice for young people.  And in context, it’s obvious that what she meant was that the above fact should be taught in school, not that masturbation techniques should be taught in school.

And again, you have to do a lot of stretching to connect anything in this ad to Elders, since the overall issues are very different and the very existence of sex ed is a huge bugaboo for members of the Republican base.

Comment #22: The Opoponax  on  09/09  at  09:04 PM

We have idiots around here that swear up and down and fight the schools when they teach kindergarten and first grade kids about “lots of different types of families”.

The main objection strawman: they are SEXUALIZING children!!!

Of course the sexualization comes at home when dad and mom start ranting about dirtty buttsexxx that all them homos are having and how disgusting those lesbians are for touching each other’s woo woos.  But they wouldnt’ have to be explicit if all those non-noocular families just went away and hid!

Comment #23: Ms Kate  on  09/09  at  09:29 PM

Gotta love the dig at teh publick skoolz monopoly.

I think McCain is trying to sew up the “Bad Touch Uncle” vote with this ad.

Too wordy for the true culturekrieg.  The better approach is to exaggerate their position and then get his followers arguing nuance.

“Why does Senator McCain want children to think it’s okay for predators to rape them?”

Then we can have a kerfuffle where they expend time, effort and high indignation before managing to argue us down into the actual position - vis, he’s a nitwit.

These rats, they’re not going to fuck themselves.

Comment #25: Phoenician in a time of Romans  on  09/09  at  09:32 PM

Heck, it looks like Dale was cheated out of any sort of comprehensive education, let alone basic sex education.  Perhaps an adult-education remedial writing course will help - especially if there are children involved who will likely have schools with much higher expectations than his seems to have had.

Comment #26: Ms Kate  on  09/09  at  09:33 PM

The response commercial should go like this:  Open with Obama noting that McCain recently ran this commercial, give a very quick clip of the end of it, note that any real examination of his record would show that he was working for comprehensive, age appropriate education aimed at helping children avoid sexual abuse, “you know—the good touch vs bad touch idea”. Then punch it directly to the camera.  “So, Senator McCain, either you didn’t do any basic research and made a reckless claim, you did know this and offered the public a deliberate smear, or you don’t think children should be taught how to protect themselves from sexual abuse.”  “Which is it?”

Comment #27: Jadawin77  on  09/09  at  09:46 PM

Shouldn’t Sharon be in here by now telling us that she doesn’t think the government should be teaching children how to protect themselves from sexual predators and we’re all a bunch of loony lefties for thinking that sexual abuse is bad when there are fetuses to save?

Comment #28: Mnemosyne  on  09/09  at  10:01 PM

Maybe we should be teaching fetuses about bad touching.

Comment #29: Auguste  on  09/09  at  10:07 PM

“Heck, it looks like Dale was cheated out of any sort of comprehensive education, let alone basic sex education.”

Look, cut him some slack.

He learned about sex from watching barnyard animals.  How was he supposed to know you can’t learn to read and write the same way?...

Course material and instruction in classes
3 that discuss sexual activity or behavior shall teach
4 pupils that it is wrong to take advantage of or to
5 exploit another person.

Hey, I can TOTALLY see why Republicans would have a problem with that. And not just concerning sex.

Comment #32: sunsin  on  09/10  at  01:28 AM

Is it just me, or are these guys attempting to associate Jocelyn Elders with Barack?

Don’t forget the Republican smears against Gore by way of Naomi Wolf, who was also criticized for speaking candidly about how girls are sexualized.  Bob Somerby at DailyHowler covered those.  Republicans sure like to say that Democrats are perverts, don’t they?

Comment #33: FlipYrWhig  on  09/10  at  01:52 AM

Obviously, the correct thing is not to tell them anything about sex until you find out your 17 year old daughter is having a baby; just ask Palin what to do then.

Comment #34: Samantha Vimes  on  09/10  at  05:17 AM

This sleazy spot has to be the work of Karl Rove. The man exhibits all the classic signs of repressed sexual deviancy.

John McCain: Bringing The Bad Touch in 2008

no, i think that would be a great ad: creepy old dudes outside the playground, cut to McCain, get the sightlines the same, make it look like McCain is outside the fence, too- and if he gets elected, then he gets… Inside.

Uh Dale?  I’m not saying I agree with that little factoid, but as I recall McCain himself graduated at the near bottom of his class? Something like 5th from the bottom of over 800?

Or was that not listed on the McCain talking points homepage?
