Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan are grilling Jesse Jackson, Jr. on why the Democratic Party gets so many African-American votes yet has so few black senators, and will have none if Obama becomes President.

I’m trying to imagine worse people to have a dumber conversation, and utterly failing. I’m seeing the beginning of what will probably be a defining narrative of the night - what does a newly empowered Democratic Party “owes” to its black base (i.e., how much are shiftless Negroes going to steal from white Christians now that they have the Head Negro In Charge)?

Our local newspaper had an interview with a teenager, who is making it his life goal to be a U.S. Senator, thanks to Obama. I almost teared up.

Well, I’m going to be the contrarian here and point out that even morons occasionally ask good questions. Would anyone around here like to defend the proposition that the Democratic Party is doing everything it ought to do to recruit more African-American (also female) talent into electoral politics?

It’s identity politics, plain and simple:

We have a black guy! You should vote for us, even though you know full well we’ll do everything in our power to fuck over minorites!

Your VP candidate championed a bill protecting victims of domestic violence? Oh, yeah? Well, women will flock to our party because our VP has TITS! And not the icky man-boobs like most of our candidates….

They really just don’t get it. Everything is shallow and superficial and substance-free.
