She’s really one of the best people on CNN right now, isn’t she.
And it was great watching her ask Tucker Whatshisface questions about Palin’s experience a few weeks ago. Just beautiful how she wouldn’t let him weasel out of it.
What if she just doesn’t want to talk to the press?
Then she needs to find another professional venue outside of public service.
What if she just doesn’t want to talk to the press? She has to because they said so?
Gee, Dr.T, I’d love to have a video of your last job interview.
I assume that you wouldn’t get a job where you refused to come to the company, then came and limited talking to people to only one minute each, then refused to talk every time they asked you about your background and qualifications, then had your mother call up and complain that they were being sexist because they expected to hear more about why you were qualified for the job and that was sooooo unfair.
It’s better to be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and prove it? She’ll have to deal with the press sooner or later, but the longer she holds out the worse it’ll be for her. We all know she’s not prepared for this campaign, the job, or the pressure. She needs to open her mouth and prove it. But I’m not holding my breath. Biden will mop the floor with her at the first veep debate.
Dr. T’s right. Next you’re going to be saying politicians are accountable to the public, you monsters.
Why wouldn’t Obama debate on Fox? For the very same reason. If the press is hostile toward you, why engage with them. Our candidate did it as well.
What if she just doesn’t want to talk to the press?
Then she shouldn’t be running for a job that requires her to talk to them. As Vice-President, she’s going to have to talk to the media on occasion. If McCain passes away in office and she takes over, she does not get to lock herself in the Oval Office and spin around in her office chair in giddy celebration that, hey, now she doesn’t have to talk to those silly reporters!
Why wouldn’t Obama debate on Fox? For the very same reason. If the press is hostile toward you, why engage with them. Our candidate did it as well.
Boycotting *one* source of news on the grounds that they are biased is not the same as boycotting *all* sources of news.
I could understand if she said she didn’t want to talk to Keith Olbermann, but hiding from the *entire press* because they’re *all* biased… well, as soon as you try to say that everyone is biased against you, you come across as a paranoid loon.
If the woman won’t talk to the press and just wants people to snap photos of her, then she should be running for Pin-Up Girl Of The Year, not Vice President. Trading on your (attractive, female) physical presence to get ahead while refusing to let anyone encounter evidence that you have a mind or what your mind might think is collusion with sexism (as is, by the way, complaining that people are being “sexist” against you because they insist that you do your job and don’t hide behind your gender.)
I think it works in Obama’s favor right now for her to stay mum.
This is quite possibly the stupidest thing I’ve read all day. If it was working in Obama’s favor for her to be quiet, then wouldn’t the McCain campaign have her out front of the press every possible moment? They’re keeping her quiet because they’re trying to limit the damage she can do to the Republican ticket.
Dweeze: It’s possible that both choices (Palin talking or keeping mum) work in Obama’s favor, and that this one simply does so less. It’s also possible that the McCain campaign believes it is helping them to keep her penned up, and that they’re incorrect.
Given the way this is starting to seriously mess with McCain’s press coverage, I can’t really see a way that this isn’t hurting them at least a little, though.
The lulziest part of this is Ms. Brown’s insistence that they’re keeping her closeted away from reporters because she’s a woman, when everyone knows it’s actually because she’s incompetent, unqualified, and without notecards or Tele-Promp-Ter assistance she’s likely to say something supremely moronic—As if her prepared statements aren’t dumb enough.
Hillary Clinton is a victim of sexism; Sarah Palin is just an idiot. You see how these aren’t equal comparisons, Campbell Brown?
Hey, enough of this “Beauty Queen” meme already! Palin came in second, she’s a “Beauty Also-Ran”!
Get it straight, or as a wingnut would say, “Get a brain morans!”
All women are victims of sexism. Even Palin.
Some women may strive to reinforce patriarchy and even somehow benefit from it individually, but that doesn’t make institutionalized, cultural sexism any less oppressive to even the most opportunistic female patriarchy-colluders. It just seems that way because Coulter’s allowed to speak in public and because Schlafly is actually employed. If the right-wing wet dream of (white) women en masse becoming dependent and going back to their cage in the kitchen were ever realized, apart from the massive return to self-doping, these women would be thrown to the wolves too. Or at least most conservative women would. Maybe a couple would be kept around for damage control and given “special rights” in case the common vajayjays started to get uppity again.
Eric’s right. It’s not her ovaries that are keeping her away from the press, it’s her ability to answer a question off the cuff.
Suggesting that you Veep candidate is too incompetent to talk to the press is as bad as suggesting that as President you can’t manage a crisis and have a debate at the same ti….Oh.
Its not her “ovaries” keeping her hidden away so much as John McCain’s evident disdain for them. I agree that she’s entirely inexperienced for the job she’s campaigning for, but she’s still a seasoned politician and a former TV anchor. She can hold her own in front of cameras. There was a point when I thought McCain was just trying to lower expectations for Palin, but we’re past that now. Now he’s just be insulting and condescending. She’s not going to embarrass the campaign any more than any other VP nominee could do. The sheltering of Palin is rapidly taking on a paternalistic dimension.
People do understand that Brown is using the theme of “sexism” as a sarcastic way of attacking the McCain campaign’s own patronizing of Palin, right?
Hillary Clinton is a victim of sexism; Sarah Palin is just an idiot. You see how these aren’t equal comparisons, Campbell Brown?
Oh Campbell Brown sees the difference.
She’s attacking the McCain camp AND taking away their ability to claim it’s just “sexism” to question Palin.
Campbell Brown haz branez.

What if she just doesn’t want to talk to the press? She has to because they said so? After watching the MSM’s discussion around innocent lipstick and fish comments from Obama, turning house counts into a week of ridicuous bloviating, and pouncing on anything even remotely female-like Hillary ever did (like cry with a supporter) I wouldn’t talk to these pariahs either, no matter what I had to say. I think it works in Obama’s favor right now for her to stay mum.
