Daddy D sucks up to Palin in radio interview

Right Wing Watch‘s Kyle Mantyla put himself through the torture of listening to Daddy D slobber all over Sarah Palin so you don’t have to. She not only reiterated that she and John McCain are staunch womb control advocates, she in turn slobbered over the fossilized professional “protector of the family.”

Palin then thanked Dobson for all he has done for the movement, declaring that “if it were not for you, so many of us would be missing the boat in terms of hearing the message in understanding what we can do to further the cause of life.”

Dobson went on to praise the Republican Party platform as the most pro-life, pro-family party platform in history, which Palin seconded, and when Dobson asked her if she thought John McCain would seek to implement it if elected, she said she did “from the bottom of my heart” and reiterated that it was important for Americans to know “that John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America.”

Kyle also did a rough transcription of the interview, and the drooling continued—with a call for prayers for an election miracle from God, and how Daddy D will roll out the red carpet for the witch hunter-anointed Palin when she comes to Colorado Springs to Focus HQ. She can’t wait.

Palin: I am not discouraged at all, even hearing those poll numbers because, for some reason, I have found myself over and over again in my life being put in these underdog positions and yet still when victory needed to be reached in order to meet this greater good, it’s always worked out just perfectly fine despite the fact that over and over again I’ve been, and I know John McCain has been, in underdog positions. To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder and it also strengthens my faith because I’m going to know at the end of the day, putting this in God’s hands, that the right thing for America will be done, the end of the day on November 4th. So I’m not discouraged at all, I’m just fine with the position that we are in today.

Dobson: [Talks about prayer call] “We were just asking for, rather boldly asking, for a miracle with regard to the election this year … let me just say that you that, regardless of the outcome of this election, we would love to have you come by and see us here at Focus on the Family sometime. I know that this is an extremely stressful time for you and we’re not asking you to come now, but when the time permits, we’ll roll out the red carpet for you.”

Palin: I don’t even need any kind of red carpet but I would absolutely love to. Dr. Dobson, Todd is sitting right next to me here in this vehicle before we get on an airplane, so Todd and I too, after I speak with you, I’ll share this conversation with him and we’ll be praying too for your ministry and for those pastors whom you have just mentioned also. Collectively, we can do all that we can within us to strengthen our country and to let Americans know that government has to be on their side, it’s their government and as we seek God’s wisdom and His will in this election, we have to have faith that it’s all going to be good at the end of the day there on November 4th as this country moves forward.

Question: if McCain/Palin go down in flames on Nov. 4, is that God’s will?

Don’t be silly.  It’s only god’s will if all of the disenfranchisement, lying and cheating actually works for the Rethuglicans.  If us anti-American, terrorist-sympathizing, socialist, communist, fascist, racist (talk about projection), welfare loving, gun hating, godless Democrats win, well, that’s just bad luck.

Is anybody else struck by just how un-Christlike these people have to act in order to try to do god’s will?

What is an underdog position?  Is that some pervy combination of the Downward Dog and underroos?

I’d bet there are a lot of knuckledragging GOP stalwarts that would want to see that.  Put her in the position they would most like to see her in.

As you know, Pam, when sin entered the world through Eve’s disobedience to God, Man fell from grace and evil began to walk among us.  Man’s sinful nature sometimes leads to terrible things like the holocaust or not voting for Republicans.

Nope. It will just mean (to them) that they didn’t work/fight hard enough and that they are being “punished” until they get it right. Remember, these are the same people who think that Hurricane Katrina was “god’s” will but all the storms in the mid-west this past summer weren’t.

Comment #5: UltraMagnus  on  10/22  at  12:49 PM

If they fail god then they should sacrifice themselves, right?  because if they lose they’ve failed god, god cannot fail.  So it must be the people involved that screwed it up.  I fully expect mccain and palin to resign and retire completely from public life after failing god in such a spectacular manner.

Is that God’s will?

No, it’s God’s blessing.

It would be the Democrats as Satan’s minions overwhelming the Godly Republican/Conservative way of life in Christian America and once again foiling the omnipotence of God.

Of course you won’t hear the fundies mentioning that last part, cognitive dissonance is not just a temporary state of mind - it is a way of life.

Comment #8: j swift  on  10/22  at  01:10 PM

God will remove his protective mercy from America and Satan will be unbound.

(I used to be a fundie, so I know how this stuff works.)

Comment #9: Todd  on  10/22  at  01:19 PM

Oh, Christ, we’re going to hear another zillion speeches about “sticking a finger in God’s eye” again, aren’t we?  They love that metaphor.  They’re worse with that than David Eddings with “a stick into water”.

Shouldn’t God’s eyes be invulnerable?  If Superman can take a bullet to the eyeball, smile, and go about his business, why can’t God do the same?

Comment #10: Seraph  on  10/22  at  01:32 PM

Nothing that goes AGAINST them is god’s will. That is a victory for satan. Only when THEY win is it god’s will.

Comment #11: Mark  on  10/22  at  01:46 PM

Dear God: I can haz Obama presidency, please? Thanks.

*continues studiously ignoring Palin and Dobson, for own sanity*

OK, this always confuses me.  Eve eats the apple because Satan, disguised as a snake, talks her into it.  Eve then talks Adam into it b/c he’s just as thick-witted.  But then, since Adam couldn’t stand up for himself and make his own decision or fight temptation, he gets to be in charge of Eve, who is guilty of the same thing?  If Eve had only submitted to the guy who’s guilty of the same sin she is somehow we’d still be in the Garden of Eden.

S-)

Chewbacca is not an Ewok.

And this story is more than half John Milton and less than half Genesis.

Although it does kinda describe why fundies want their bible to be law.  In a theocracy, there shouldn’t be any legal temptations, so you don’t have to worry about sinning b/c it’s illegal.  And you could call the cops if you saw anyone sinning, and they’d have to go to JAIL where they’d rot till JUDGMENT DAY.

My uncle, the Benedictine monk, always taught us that God prefers a questioning faith.  It’s why we have free will—if there’s no chance of temptation or sin, then there’s no reason for us to have a choice, is there?  We have brains for a reason, and God doesn’t like it when we don’t use them.

My (correct) opinion: Absolutely, praise the Lord, Alleluia! (Of course, I go to church with people who held one of Obama’s first fundraisers for Senate back in Aught 4).

Fundie opinion is divided. It could be:
a) God punishing us because HIS elect didn’t do enough to (add favorite hobby horse). (the most common opinion)
b) Preparation for the End of Days, which Barak Hussein as the Anti-Christ. (the more radical opinion)
c) The result of evil voter fraud, rabble-rousing, the machinations of George Soros and Bill Ayers, and McCain-Pallin being too nice to that over-sensitive Negro boy. (the moderate opinion)
So you can see, there is great diversity among fundamentalists.

foiling the omnipotence of God.

Interesting how that works.  I swear these people are more pagan than Christian.  The ancient Greeks et al believed in fallible gods; what the frak are Christians doing believing in it?

Not that you’d know it from reading his book, mind you (where people got horribly killed for questioning Him, iirc, and it happened more than once at that).

One of my favorite atheist/agnostic quotes is from Thomas Jefferson, and goes something like:

“Question with boldness even the existence of a God, for if he does exist, he must surely approve of the homage of reason more than blindfolded fear.”

Something like that. (I ought to remember, since I was just the other day putting it on a poster for the school’s Atheist Club. Which doesn’t actually exist, but I was going to do a social experiment and see how long it took for the posters to be torn down.)
