DOOOOOOOOM

imageAfter a few days of McCain’s gamble on negative ads, Barack Obama has been creeping steadily upwards in polling.

The real question is, if McCain’s ads aren’t working, why isn’t Obama farther ahead?  Ergo, the ads must be working and Obama is doomed to uncomfortably lead the polls for the next couple of days, all the way to a tenuously large Electoral College victory.  I don’t know how he sleeps at night knowing more people don’t love him, but my guess is it’s all the coke he’s not on.

Corsi’s point should have been that Obama once used drugs, and we might want to be suspicious of the assertion that he stopped when he says he did. In saying this, Corsi reminds me of those Bush antagonists who speculate that he still drinks or that he is somehow dogged by the “dry drunk” effects of not drinking. Let’s see if all the bloggers can be non-hypocritical. Treat Obama exactly the way you’ve been treating Bush on the substance-use issue.

As smooth as this segue is, let me continue with it.  I’ll treat Obama the exact same way I’d treat Bush - had Bush had an admitted and verified history of sporadic drug use ending nearly 30 years ago with no signs of addiction.  And if Obama had been an addict until he was 40 and then just decided that he wasn’t anymore, I’d also look at him a bit suspiciously.  I refuse to answer for the Counterpunch article that Althouse references, though, until she gives a full and fair explanation for Pamela Geller’s resplendent abuse of her breasts.

Remember, kids, Ann Althouse is a *law* school professor.

No, seriously.

Note for McCain’s staff (as if they’d be reading this, but you get the idea): Yeah, keep running ads that say how popular Obama is.

Because Americans aren’t susceptible to advertising, peer pressure, or repeated messages at all.

The story about Bush drinking again was in the National Enquirer.  Aren’t conservatives all supposed to be supporting the National Enquirer as a bastion of investigative journalism?  If they were right about John Edwards, they must have been right about Bush.

Hm. Do they not teach the difference between valid and invalid analogies in law school anymore?

You’d think that a tenured law professor wouldn’t suck so badly at, you know, thinking.

Hurray, I love this game!

If you don’t question whether Obama is a secret coke fiend today, 30 years after he claims he quit, using the absolute void of evidence at your disposal, you’re not being responsible in considering your Presidential Nominee.

However, if you refuse to question Obama’s 30 year’s gone coke habit, you are also forced to admit that George Bush has no permanent residual effects left over from his 40 year long drinking binge.

Ergo, Obama is probably a coke-head and Bush remains infallible.  QED, bitches!  I win again!

You can stretch this even further and claim that liberals are supposed to support drug rehabilitation and support for recovering addicts.  So Democrats should forgive and forget with Bush.  But tough-on-crime conservatives are supposed to be hard line opponents of the drug trade, which makes them morally incapable of voting for Obama.  So all Obama supporters should vote for Bush.  Because… zomg!  Look at the ocelot!

You mean, like Instamoron and Hugh Hewitt? Or hell, even Allen “Torture” Dershowitz?

Not sure what you based your presumption on…

I squealed when I saw the graphic.  I miss Doom.

That’s all.  I still have to read the post.

I miss the Doom mod where you fought as a woman (the Doomguy face changed) and most of your enemies were gigantic penises. It was just like debating Republicans.

There’s a question folks should be asking more often.

Given Obama’s negatives and his lack of experience, why is McCain losing?  Why has he never showed any real strength in the polls?

We’re in a war; McCain’s people say that he’s better trusted on the war. We’re facing high gas prices; McCain has an energy plan (“GIVEAWAYS TO THE OIL COMPANIES! And build nuclear plants!”). He’s in favor of cutting taxes and reducing government regulation.

Why is he losing?

Maybe it’s because people have grave doubts about him. Maybe it’s because he’s an ill tempered, foul mouthed, pandering idiot. Who knows what wisdom the American people are showing by rejecting him. But it’s consistent, isn’t it?

These people don’t seem to realize that the drug-use explanation for Bush’s behavior is the charitable one. Haven’t they seen Harold and Kumar 2?

Ahh….Doom/Doom 2….....one of the most popular games played by 3/4 of my high school classmates…...and despite questionable studies associating such games with increasing felonious violent behavior….I have yet to hear of any of those classmates being tried on mass murder charges and being hauled off to prison.  If anything, by external appearances…many of us are what mainstream society would consider to be good socially well-adjusted citizens….albeit with a few harmless eccentric quirks.
