Every Black Man Is Conservative When He Dies

Bernie Mac died yesterday.  Ergo, he was a conservative hero.  I mean, he owned guns and acted like a grown-ass man!  It’s becoming a routine part of being black and semi-respectable to conservatives - you must be one of them.  You don’t have dreadlocks, you don’t hang out with Jesse Jackson and they can’t blame “hip hop culture” on you.  Here’s your Reagan kufi!  Go get the luggage!

My favorite comment from the Hot Air thread:

LOL, that was one of my favorite lines of his. This is so sad. He was one of the few good things to come out of the ’south side’ of Chicago. May God rest his soul.

I’ll let Bernie Mac comment:

I didn’t know about his previous health problems.  When I saw this yesterday, it was so shocking. 50. Such a funny,  young motherfucker.

’south side’

Nice scare quotes. It’s okay, maclbanegirl, we know what you’re euphemizing. There’s no need to spell it out for us.

Are they going to claim Isaac Hayes as well? I can’t say I know what his politics were.

Crudity… greed… violence… obsession with money as the only value…

Sounds like a conservative to me!

Oh man!! What a weekend. Thanks for the great clip, Jesse- putting one up for Isaac Hayes, too.

RIP, Chef…

Probably.  I think he was a Scientologist so that will give them a starting point to co-opt Isaac.

I think you’re overblowing things.  The post doesn’t say anything about him being a conservative hero and the only time it brushes with politics is to mention that having Mac perform at a political fundraiser might not have been the best idea (and I love Mac, but I was a little puzzled when I found he had performed at an Obama fundraiser).  So I say lay off.  The original post is right on.  He was talented, hilarious, we’re all sad he’s gone, and he was liberal.

I didn’t read all the comments that went with it, but the original post seems clean.

damn, that sucks. He would have been around for years… his show was funny as hell.

//he used to drive a bread truck. untill he got sick of having guns pulled on him. the third time he got jacked, he called dispatch, and said “hey, I just got jacked” and they were like, well, hurry the fuck up or you’ll be late for the rest of your route.

-hard to be a republican after that.

Isaac Hayes is dead?!?

MotherFUCKER.

I gotta go crank some funk albums now.

Then you may want to read the comments and lay off me.

If you can, you know, be bothered.

You know, it still *pisses me off* when armchair warriors disparage Revrend Wright. Yes, he has political opinions with which I disagree, but I have to acknowledge that I haven’t done one-millionth as much for AMERICA as he has.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah_Wright

Check this out - I was reading the obit for Isaac Hayes in the NYTs, and I came across this sentence;

“Mr. Hayes had health problems in recent years but had continued to tour and work occasionally in film (he had a role in “Soul Men,” a comedy set for release in November and starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac, the comedian who died Saturday).”

Could it be a curse?  Could it be a conspiracy against the movie… can Samuel Jackson’s demise be far behind?

Scary…

“The only good one is a dead one,” is another way of reading posthumous-only support of people.

I guess it is also why Bob Marley is so popular with fraternities.
