Friday Genius Ten “Skipped Billy Idol” Edition

No promises on blogging this weekend, since I’m going to my cousin’s wedding in El Paso, and you know how family stuff can either eat up all your time, or leave you with a lot of time, and there’s no telling what it’s going to be.  So, in honor of weddings, I picked a wedding-themed song that is not “White Wedding”.  Please leave your Genius tens or random tens in comments, or links to whatever you want to talk about.

Original song: “Suzanne Is Getting Married”—-Screeching Weasel

I know I probably shouldn’t like Screeching Weasel, but fuck it, I do.  Sometimes, anyway.

1) “Psycho Over You”—-The Queers
2) “We Are One”—-The Avengers
3) “White Minority”—-Black Flag
4) “Joker In The Pack”—-The Adicts
5) “Weekend”—-The Dictators
6) “Death To Humanity”—-Riot
7) “Pretty Pathetic”—-Smoking Popes
8) “Bad Reputation”—-Reverend Horton Heat
9) “I Hate Children”—-Adolescents
10) “Oh Oh I Love Her So”—-The Ramones

Videos and cat pics under the fold.

I can’t make a Genius playlist based on this at work (it’s not on my iTunes here), but if I could, mine would be for “The Book of Love”, by The Magnetic Fields.  Which is the only song that has ever even vaguely made me feel all squishy and sappy about that sort of thing.  Maybe I’ll do it when I get home tonight.

A lover (Bragg) sings:

It doesn’t matter the colour of the car
But what goes on beneath the bonnet
Is there a flag that flies above your heart
And is my name writ there upon it
Wedding cake and toothache
Equals love and pain
