I love ‘Ever Fallen in Love’ by the Buzzcocks. I thought it had been forgotten forever, until I saw it in one of the Shrek movies. Rampant commercialization aside, it makes me laugh and cry every time I hear it. I’ve lived it, man.

Comment #10: Mark B. from Austin TX on 07/04 at 02:15 PM

If it makes you feel better, I loved the song long before any Shrek movies.

Glenda Collins - “Don’t Let It Rain on Sunday”
Rolling Stones - “She’s a Rainbow”

Big Flame - “The Illness”
Frank Howard & the Commanders - “Just Like Him”
Tommy Roe - “Caveman”
Sufjan Stevens - “Lord God Bird”
The Jam - “Eton Rifles”
The Magnetic Fields - “A Chicken with Its Head Cut Off”
Arizona Dranes - “Soon We’ll Gather at the River”
X - “Waiting” (Australian X, not the LA one)

Some of that, like Sufjan Stevens, is my wife’s contribution to our iTunes library, and I can’t say I’ve ever heard it, but I was just transcribing what came up on shuffle.

I’m not listening to mp3s this evening, but Johnny Nash’s Hold Me Tight LP, which I bought the other day at a great record store that recently opened in East Nashville, The Groove, and which deserves a plug. Nashvillians are getting spoiled with so many good record stores, or at least I am.
