Next entry: McCain heckler was Adam Kokesh Previous entry: The McCains’ Turn To Bore Me

Gah

Media

Chris Matthews just remarked that the crowd is applauding his rebuke of the GOP.  Which explains why they were entirely silent when he rebuked the party or talked about any non-doctrinaire position.  Much like last night, I don’t think that they watched the same speech that actual people did.  Actually, they probably just watched The Last Starfighter and went “Pew!  Pew!” the entire time while hiding behind couches and throwing pretend neutron-grenades.

They’re not so hot about it as they think more.

Jeffery Toobin said it was the worst convention acceptance speech since Jimmy Carter 1980.

The Last Starfighter does not have “neutron-grenades.”

It does, however, have the “death blossom.”

Just for future reference, y’know…

Pity poor Tweety and his colleagues; unlike them, we’re not held captive to some bogus notion of blind impartiality, and our reputations don’t rest on setting up “insider” narratives that we must stick to no matter the evidence to the contrary.

I’m hoping the network and cable news coverage of both 2008 conventions have their lowest ratings yet, if only so they wake up to the new reality of political coverage: politically-aware people prefer to watch the speech raw without all the flashing infoturd chyrons and manipulative audience cutaways, then head over to the blogs for some real analysis by people with real opinions.

Personally, I started watching with low expectations, and McCain delivered on them. I must admit that the return of the green screen was an added bonus.

I think it’s time Sylvester put an end to Tweety.  I just can’t bear to watch him anymore.
