Glenn Beck finds a BFF in tin foil hat preacher who says health care reform = ‘black genocide’

Bottom-feeding hero of the teabagging patriot set Glenn Beck has now resorted to pulling people who appear to be a few flapjacks short of a stack. Beck treats this man, who spouts conspiratorial gibberish to serve as some sort of "experts" on policy. I guess with all of his major advertisers leaving in droves, he might as well go hog wild with the loony Base.

On Fox News’ Glenn Beck, [Dallas-area pastor Stephen] Broden plugged a documentary, Maafa 21, that claims the pro-choice movement, and Planned Parenthood in particular, is part of a 150-year-old plot to exterminate the African-American race. “Slavery =  Abortion = Genocide — that seems to be the message of this Life Dynamics documentary called Maafa 21,” the Right Wing Watch blog sums up.

“What’s going on in that documentary is what’s going to happen in the health care package,” Broden told Glenn Beck. “I believe what we’re seeing is an orchestrated attempt to radically change this country from what the founders had in mind,” Broden said. “There is a deliberate attempt on the part of Marxist,  socialist and … Darwin atheists who are changing this country.”

“Beck wonders aloud whether Broden, who supported McCain during last year’s election, too has become a pariah. Certainly he can’t be called a racist,  because he’s black, so what pejoratives does Broden face? The good pastor hasn’t the foggiest. He just hopes people call him a ‘patriot,’ a moniker Beck readily affixes.”

At this point the batsh*ttery is becoming surreal, a slow-mo train wreck of mental confusion, delusion and hilarity that says so much about the state of the fringe-right political movement in this country. Abroad they have to be laughing at us—or crying.

150-year-old plot to exterminate the African-American race.
and don’t forget about the 48 year old plot to put a half Kenyan half white Barack Obama in office to take over the U.S.A
i wonder what other sinister plots will they uncover?

Abroad they have to be laughing at us—or crying.

Or staring in horror.
The Beck Show passed up “funny” when it was on CNN.  Now he alternates between battle cries of “We Surround Them!” and paranoid conspiracy theories suggesting secret plots of genocide and communist revolt lay under every rock.

At least during the 20s and 30s, when communism was on the rise, you had - you know - communists and shit.  Now you’ve just got Beck jumping at his own shadow and screaming “Kill it!  Kill it!”  There are European nations with real, full throated, honest to god, COMMUNIST parties that must think we’re a nation of raging fascists to a man.  Living across the pond from that would scare the hell out of me.

As if the Reich Wing would be upset if POC went poof. Also Beck has an eminetly punchable face.

I used to live in the US (seattle) and everyone I knew thought that Beck et al was unbearable to watch for more than five minutes but there was a sort of acceptance of the fact of his existence. When I talk to people about the media in america here (Ireland right now, England mostly) no one really believes that people like Beck really exist in the way that they do.

Our media can be crap but they don’t actively lie to us and they don’t really take sides (ok some newspapers that are sort of a running joke). There is no bit where a presenter imitates setting someone on fire. Certainly not anyone on the news. The closest thing to opinion on the news is when a whale tries to swim up a river and the presenter makes a “he should have stayed on the M5 until….” joke. Sometime the mps turn up but their method of operation is to be as boring as possible while offering as little information as possible. Their lies tend to be along the lines of “well by removing some inefficacy we can lower costs while raising standards. We can do more with less and its important that everyone has the opportunity to be a success”. There are in general no “Gordon Brown will steal your dog and kill your grandma” lies.

We don’t get it.

God I can’t stand seeing useful idiots like this preacher being trotted out for assholes like Beck to shout, “See, I’m not racist… look, here’s my black friend!  Did you notice that he’s black?  AND my friend??”

I appreciate what Dan Savage said last night to Keith Olbermann on Countdown... Glenn Beck’s goal isn’t to be a voice of the loyal opposition challenging the president on genuine policy differences; Glenn Beck’s goal is to foment the anger among the crazies to the point that one of them decides to kill the president.

Glenn Beck is actively trying to get President Obama killed.  And I mean that, as Vice President Biden would say… LITERALLY.  Not figuratively, literally.

“Glenn Beck is actively trying to get President Obama killed.  And I mean that, as Vice President Biden would say… LITERALLY.”

It isn’t just Beck & the Fox News crews. It’s every fundie preacher (from yesterday’s thread, whatshisname) and Republican Senator who “has questions” about the President’s birth certificate or some other total bullshit dog whistle that means “kill the black guy, only white guys are supposed to be President”.

These people have their followers believing that even if you’re a christian, you should die if you voted for Obama. So it isn’t just the Pres that needs to be on the lookout.

Hey, Sarah Palin just endorsed the Beckster on her Facebook account.  So neener neener neener!

that claims the pro-choice movement, and Planned Parenthood in particular, is part of a 150-year-old plot to exterminate the African-American race.

So Broden is basically a mirror of the white people who think that abortion is making the white race die out.  It all comes back to the possibility of a woman choosing not to have his baby after he worked so hard and went through the correct rituals to get her knocked up, and now that woman can still ruin all his hard work.

So, wait WHAT? I’m confused.

Is health care reform SECRET REPARATIONS FOR SLAVERY or is it SECRET GENOCIDE AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE?

Beck needs to make up his lunatic mind. And give Pee-Wee his bike back.

It’s both.  Beck believes in magic.

Obama is a really lame faciest.  One would think he’d have had Beck dragged out of his studio and shot on national TV by now if he was going to go down that road!

Abroad they have to be laughing at us—or crying.

If “abroad” = “Ireland”, then the right wing nut jobs are studying the man when it comes to the Lisbon Treaty.  Serious wingnuttery coming out of the religious and cultural backwarders there ... and it sounds amazingly like our own health care debate!

Most of the news media have gone the route of the National Enquirer, becoming completely untrustworthy, definitively stupid, intrinsically petty, and sneeringly vindictive.  Even the still most respectable news outlets (defining way downward here) such as the big 3 networks, CNN & MSNBC, have long since succumbed to perpetual truth-baiting, wherein they allude to a certain news story for instance, sprinkle in a few selected actual facts, then veer immediately away into conventional mythic wisdom or outright political bias, and never again approach the essence of the story or get at the truth or causation. (exceptions are Rachel & Keith & Ed Schultz)

What use are they, except as propaganda outlets?  None.  No use at all.  News must be decentralized, which is what actually is happening, and must be integrated much more fully into social media.  The “left” did so during the 08 election campaign to some extent.  The extreme “right” is doing it now to a lesser though louder extent.  Game is on for who’s more committed and more creative in getting their message out and internalized, and its people organized and motivated.

Actually, Anti-Choice=Forced Pregnancy=Slavery.

It would be funny if it weren’t so damaging that these African American Anti-Choice want equality for all African American men. But the women? Not so much.

Even here in blue, blue Seattle, we have our pockets of crazy. I woke up this morning to see that the mayor of one of the cities north of us, Mount Vernon, is going to give Glenn Beck the key to the city.

Turns out the mayor and Beck’s parents were friends, and Beck used to live in Mount Vernon.  Swell.

Now, it may seem contradictory that Obama is both a racist with a deep-abiding hatred of white culture *and* devoted to the genocide of the black race, but only if you insist on employing reason and consistency like a damn pinko. Clearly, Obama’s white half hates black people, and his black half hates white people, as with all people of mixed race. You may think conservative opposition to interracial marriage decades ago was due to ignorance and racism, but it was really an attempt to stop just this sort of thing from happening, as foretold by George Wallace and his time-traveling cotton gin.

I worked in Seattle one summer, and one of the funnier things I remember from that job was the unsolicited faxes we used to regularly get from a dude calling himself “Jesus of Burien.”  Even blue cities come with crazies!

Comment #18: Mimi  on  09/03  at  11:20 AM

Oh, Mimi, I Googled “Jesus of Burien” and nearly spit coffee onto my keyboard.  The Stranger ran an article about him in 1999 here.
