Next entry: Why the backlash against “Sex and the City” is political Previous entry: What To Look Forward To

Hankies, indeed

Cara at Feministe links to a series of comic strips telling stories of the rescue work in Sichuan.

Don’t go to the site expecting to escape without tears.

Then head over here.

I know it has nothing to do with your post, but I wanted to get this out to your readers asap—for anyone in new york,  the governor’s office is doing a poll on the recent decision to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.  to register your support, call 1-518-474-8390.  a real person answers the phone, just tell them that you support the governor’s directive on marriage, then give them your 5 digit (New York only!) zip code.

I just did it, it’s quick and painless and takes less than 10 seconds of your time.

I read those and teared up. Then sent them to my partners, who did the same. Those were so amazingly moving.

I linked to those earlier this week, and so far, all my commenters, few though they may be, have been completely amazed and moved. Her cartoons are just unbelievably powerful. I’m glad they’re getting more readers…

Makes me wonder that if the people of China are rising out of poverty day by day, it will be because of all the teachers who are dedicated to the death to their students.

I’d show this to my older son, but one of his best friends went to one of those collapsed schools until 2004.

I want the history books to say that the United States and China came to be fast friends and allies.

I am indeed too!

Jesus…that’s so sad. I didn’t grasp the weight of the situation until those comics. Leave it to art to make someone realize the gravity of an event. Thank god for that.
