Happy Birthday To Us!

Pandagon

I almost forgot, because I’m a terrible blog parent - today, Pandagon is seven years old!  Wish it a happy birthday in comments.  It’s almost big blog age…

Happy birthday, dear Pandagon, happy birthday to you!

If I’ve converted human years to blog years correctly, that makes it older than John McCain.  Congratulations!

Comment #2: Neil the Ethical Werewolf  on  07/26  at  07:38 PM

Congrats. I feel like I’ve been reading it almost that long, too.

Comment #3: Incertus, Nacho Daddy  on  07/26  at  07:45 PM

I’m going to get all sentimental here.

Comment #4: Amanda Marcotte  on  07/26  at  07:46 PM

Merry Birfday! Y’all are still one of my favorite check-‘em-two-or-three-times-an-hour blogs.  smile

Comment #8: Scott  on  07/26  at  08:21 PM

You make us hear closely.  You make us feel deeply.  You make us think more than we wish.  You make us better people that we would be without you.

Comment #9: Magis  on  07/26  at  08:22 PM

Hippo birdy 2 ewe!  And many more to come.

Comment #10: DrDick  on  07/26  at  08:30 PM

I’ve only been around for about 6.5 of them, but even that seems like an incredibly long time.  You had the ready.gov inspired graphics at that point, IIRC.

This was one of the first places I was introduced to in the feminist blogsphere.  This was the place that reminded me that no, I wasn’t crazy, even if there was no one else in North Dakota that was an admitted feminist.

This was the place that I still remember making money for Amnesty International, way back in the day.

To all the good works that Pandagon has done, and hopefully will continue to do.

*raises glass*

Enjoy second grade next month - it’s a good time smile.

Is their a correlation between the age of a blog and the reading level of its trolls?  New blogs get incoherent ViAGra spam. A few years later, the blogs get the random passing-through trollers who just shout things like KILL THE QUEERS.  Then you get mature and the trolls come in with a strategy.

Comment #13: Billingham  on  07/26  at  09:13 PM

Note:  I’m just as happy that the spamcatcher didn’t block my comment for using the V word, but still…you might want to tweak it.

Comment #14: Billingham  on  07/26  at  09:14 PM

Happy Birthday, Pandagon.  Thanks for doing that voodoo that you do so well.

Comment #15: BadKitty  on  07/26  at  10:24 PM

Nearly 5 years now of getting my daily or near-daily injections of fortitude to keep facing the world as a feminist and questioner. It’s a tiring way to live, but it doesn’t take nearly as much energy, I imagine, as writing for Pandagon, and one dose of you guys gives me a lot of ergs to keep sticking to my principles. It would be a lot harder without places like the P, so thank the Disco Ball the Flying Spaghetti Monster one day 7 years ago lifted a tentacle and proclaimed, “Let there be Light.”

Comment #16: Ranylt  on  07/26  at  10:46 PM

Thank you all for what you do, and thank you all in the comments as well.  It takes more than the posts to make this site worth visiting so often, and I’m glad that it still makes me think about things in a different way almost all the time.  It’s well worth arguing and hashing things out with people I generally agree with just as much as it is worth arguing and hashing things out with those I don’t.  I’m glad this space exists.

Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Pandagon!  I’ve been reading you since you were at Swarthmore, so I think I might be hooked.  Keep it up!

Keep on keepin’ on Pandagonians. The snark found here has kept me informed and entertained for years.

I’ve been reading (not commenting though) since right before you brought Ezra aboard. I’ve always enjoyed this blog in all of its incarnations…this must be Pandagon Mk.IV: The re-Jessening. Or maybe Pamandagon II: Taylor’d for Snark.

Comment #23: Gozer  on  07/27  at  03:12 AM

It’s 49 in dog years and older than forever in television (5 years).  Happy Blogiversary!

I think I have been, just about—at least, I remember Jesse being in still college, and the debate over whether to go to war in Iraq . . .

Congratulations to Jesse, and Ezra, and Amanda, and Pam, and Auguste, and J******s, and all the commentors, for making this blog what it is today.

I believe I will have to have some cake to celebrate.

Comment #30: libdevil  on  07/27  at  01:21 PM

Happy Birthday! I actually followed Amanda over here from Mousewords, so I can’t claim to have been here from the beginning. Will we ever get to find out what “Pandagon” means?

Comment #31: Egnu Cledge  on  07/27  at  01:37 PM

I always assumed that it was “pentagon” pronounced sideways sorta.

Comment #32: Ms Kate  on  07/28  at  12:08 AM

How many internet companies have survived this long?

And our P/E ratio is better than most of them, too.
