I Enjoyed The Obama Impeachment

imageOh, my!  Barack Obama is a one-termer!

I’m going to go invest the dividends from my future Palin Prosperity Fund right now!  But don’t you take credit for that, Mr. Socialist Obama Man, oh no - I know how you people are.

By “you people” I meant “actual Presidents of the United States of America”.  Not black people.  Don’t make this a race thing.

dear god, reading that made me want to punch my monitor.

I saw a YouTube clip the other night from circa 1992 CBS talking about how Bill Clinton was doomed, d00med to be a one-termer.

I love how they’re all like: look at the 91 recession! Look at how bad the economy was by 96! NO WAY THE INCUMBENT COULD’VE WON THAT ONE.

Smooth going, dumbass.

Comment #3: Erl  on  11/11  at  10:13 PM

Erl, they also forget 1980 (when the economy was in the shitter) and 1984 (when it was recovering).

Guess who won in 1984? The incumbent.

Things don’t have to be booming in 2012. Obama just has to demonstrate they are moving in the right direction.

Comment #4: Ben D.  on  11/11  at  10:27 PM

Because Bush I won on the economy in 1988?

Huh?

Comment #5: Crissa  on  11/11  at  10:37 PM

Also, the competing Palin 2012 and Michelle Obama ads are a bit… Weird.

Comment #6: Crissa  on  11/11  at  10:38 PM

Amazing how people who built a campaign based on fear that “nobody knows this guy” and “we cant read so we’ll just say that nobody really knows what his plans are” to “boy, he’s sure going to be a one-term president”!

Comment #7: Ms Kate  on  11/11  at  11:35 PM

Face it DEMONcraos, Ohdamnit bought the election with Marxist funding from “the people”, so he’s not a proper president and should be impeached (Michelle too) before he gets in office and makes us all socialists.  Me, I’m kind of a loner, I don’t socialize much and I don’t want a prezident that makes me (“happy hour” down at Butte’s “Blood Clot bar” is an awkward scene, trust me).  Oh, sure, if I get some drinks in me I’ll do the Electric Slide if Foghat’s “Slow Ride” is on the jukebox, but I’m not really a people person, so I’m anti-Socialist.  So sue me, LIEbrals.

I seriously can’t tell snark from trolls anymore.  This election has broken my reality-based community radar.

Comment #9: TC  on  11/12  at  12:24 AM

I remember Election Night 1992, watching returns with an increasingly distressed Republican (he was a nice guy otherwise).  When the election was called, he said sourly, “Well, guess we have another one-term President now.”

I restrained myself from saying, “Take comfort in that thought over the next four years.”

Heh, and remember the T-shirts that said, “Clinton and Gore—Gone in Four”?  I wonder if you can still find those things….

Comment #10: Dr. Psycho  on  11/12  at  01:52 AM

Peggy Noonan wrote a whole book about how Bill Clinton was doomed to be a one-termer and another about how his wife’s Senatorial bid was bound to fail:  she’s a Very Serious Person.

Comment #11: Josh  on  11/12  at  03:38 AM

The most interesting result when looking for t-shirts that say “clinton-gore gone in four.” Note “last updated” dates and other fun things.

Comment #12: Auguste  on  11/12  at  03:56 AM

Hey Guys out there, stop being a racist…Whether you like Obama as President or not, he is still an Elect Winner our Country’s President for the next 4 years.  Rather being a stupid coward racist(s), why don’t we reunite it to rebuild our strong country again.

Remember, the United States of America is now the country for all people from different races not just only white anymore.  We must think clearly and joint hands to clean up the mess of 8 yrs of billiion and billion stupid spending in the 2 ridiculous wars just for nothing. Unemployment is skyrocketting over the roofs, people lost their homes, families separated…What is more do you expect for our lovely country and our people to suffer???.  Think about it

As I read the linked article, I saw one based on economics and what might happen with the economy in the near-term.  Yeah, it was all speculation, but it was as reasonable a speculation as any other: the ecopnomy really could be perceived as poor in 2012.  The author speculated that perhaps President Obama won’t have an easy re-election in 2012, and while such is unknowable now, it’s hardly an unreasonable guess.

There are three possibilities for 2012: Mr Obama runs again, and wins, Mr Obama runs again and loses, or Mr Obama doesn’t run again.  There was nothing strange about speculation about the future—it’s going to happen many, many times before 2012—as long as we recognize that it’s still just speculation.

Comment #14: Dana  on  11/12  at  12:40 PM

For those of us who remember the Big Reveal of the vast right-wing conspiracy circa 92-94, all this talk of “Obama will ruin the country” and “Obama’s new tax form:  ‘What did you make?  Send it in!’” is just the same crap all over again.  (I only hope that Obama’s daughters are not treated as harshly as Chelsea was.  I still can’t quite believe Limbaugh was willing to insult a 12-year-old so egregiously.)

Comment #15: KL  on  11/12  at  01:12 PM

TC, “Rugged in Montana” is a snarky fake troll.  I think it’s stupid, but that’s what my scroll bar is for.

Comment #16: Nicole  on  11/12  at  01:40 PM

Once moderate conservatives realize how moderate Obama is they will flock to him vs. the radical Right.  Obama’s support is only going to grow over the next four years while the Republicans carry out the much needed civil war between the evangelicals/pro-lifers and the neocons.

Pethokoukis is cooky.  (had to do it.)
