He saw pictures of black people!  Take that, 96% of black people in this country!

I’m amazed at the fact that almost a week after a couple hundred thousand people turned out, there’s still no coherent narrative as to why they turned out or the importance of them turning out other than a rebuke of the much larger anti-war protests of the past and/or proof that when they finally get around to having a point, Washington should be on high alert.

Heh. Indeed!

I’m actually amazed that the coherent narrative wasn’t created for them by the Villagers. They seemed half-hearted at best, and dropped it the second the torture memos came out.

Wow.  What a turnout.

I’m still waiting for anyone to mention that 10X as many people turned out in antiwar protests in 2003.  And were ignored.  And called traitors.  Told they hated the troops.

Taxes pay for the troops.  Who really hates them?  Those who don’t want them put in harms way for frivolous reasons, or those who do and then don’t want to pay them (3.5% raise being “too much”).

And called traitors.

People who don’t want to pay taxes: Patriots.
People who want to secede from the US: Patriots
People like Peter Schiff who invest money everywhere except the US: Patriots
People like Anthony Astolfi who started reteaparty.org, and who supports Peter Schiff for Senator from Connecticut: Patriots
Why does the right-wing count as patriots people who hate America?

I love the “it wasn’t all white people” claim being backed up with random pictures of one black person per hundreds of white people.  I got into a debate about that with one of my wingnut cousins while at a family gathering last week.  A TV was on, and he pointed out the camera scanning the crowd of the St. Louis rally, and the camera passed by one older black couple in the crowd, and he said, “See!!!  There’s proof that it wasn’t all white people!!!!”

It was like a game of “Where’s Waldo?”, except Waldo was a black guy with Stockholm Syndrome.

DTG in STL says: he pointed out the camera scanning the crowd of the St. Louis rally, and the camera passed by one older black couple in the crowd…

Ha!  They were probably tourists who got lost and thought someone was giving away something for free.

The conservatives and the Republicans (both) have to re-invent themselves, and this is how they begin.  They build a movement ready to exploit any problems that may arise.  So they need to be energetic and flexible.  This is hard, as the Democrats are now the party of Wall Street and the Labor Unions both.  They’re planning to exploit serious trouble with either inflation or taxation at about the time of the next election.  It’s possible.  Hence the “Tea Parties”.

They seem to think that replacing a sign that said “Bushitler” with one that says “Obamahitler”, or something, is all they need to do.  Next they’ll accuse Obama of being a “Dry Drunk” regarding coke and they’ll expect to waltz into the White House.  The rest are hoping for a big juicy al Queda attack they can blame on Obama.

The cons have been outspent, out fought, out thought, out talked and now they’re outside, and they’re trying to get back in.

Chris Hayes of The Nation tweets:

If a US soldier was captured and water boarded 183 times in one month, something tells me Fox News would say he was tortured.

Couldn’t have said it more concisely in 140 characters myself if I tried.
