Lost In The Wilderness

In the past two days, the National Review has run pieces declaring Barack Obama both Barack W. Bush and Barack McGovern Clinton.  Add that to McCain’s propensity to compare Obama to William Jennings Bryan and Jimmy Carter, and I can’t help but think that the GOP has ceased all attempts to find a coherent line of attack against Obama and are pretty much just going to tag him as a guy whose name you can put in front of other names.  It’s an odd, risky gambit, but one I think could pay off once Barack Danza Degeneres wilts under the constant storm of tangentially related surnames.

William Jennings Bryan tests big with high-texting tweens and 18-29 coffeehouse poets/internet comics.

”...I can’t help but think that the GOP has ceased all attempts to find a coherent line of attack against Obama…”

I’ve never seen any evidence to suggest the Rethugs have EVER had a “coherent line of attack” on Obama.

They’ve painted him a lot of different ways over the last 6-months.  They just want to present a smörgåsbord of reasons to vote against Obama, one of which they hope will appeal to each voter.

And since wingnuts don’t notice the incoherency, let alone get upset about it, you just keep throwing stuff out there until the election — whether it makes sense or not.

If they win, anything can be justified…

Interesting how Americans who claim to be liberals cannot seem to grasp that Eugenics ( a pseudo-science dreamed up in that ultra - liberal nation Sweden ) and genocide are not the same thing. Eugenics does not aim to eradicate an entire race but to eliminate those considered defective, mentalists, people with disabilities, the short, the dark skinned. Being short and dark skinned I am totally opposed to it but have always been a great advocate of knowing your enemy.

As for the GOP not finding a coherent line of attack, this could be the result of Obama’s strategy of not ever actually stating his position on anything. It’s hard to attack a man if you don’t know where he stands.

Ian, you may want to check up on the right’s accusations against Sanger - it’s that PP wants to engage in a targeted eugenic course focused primarily on African Americans.  That’s genocide.

How do you get a reputatation as a flip-flopper if you don’t take stands on anything?  That’s sort of contradictory.

Also, since when is Obama’s strategy consisting entirely in not stating his position ? He states his position all the time : ” I’m only against dumb wars.” ” We must leave when the situation in Iraq is stabilized. ”
You have to be blind and deaf. How do you even write comments here.

Another one maybe. Obama has said that he believe in Bush Sr.‘s way of warmaking, that is, getting international support.

Comment #6: littlehorn  on  07/11  at  01:25 PM

And then he also says that racism is not endemic. Oh another position.

Damn, I’m really pounding this guy with my very superior…uh…memory ? Nah. Eyes ? Ears ? I don’t know what is wrong with Ian really.

Actually the flip-flopping is a coherent line of attack. But then we all know presidential nominees move to the right once their nomination is won.

Ian, hon, the adults are talking, so shut up.

Barack Napoleon Augustus Caesar.

Yeah, try recovering from that, Obama!

You have to admit, this strategy was very successful for them when they used it to sell the Iraq War.

“You have to admit, this strategy was very successful for them when they used it to sell the Iraq War.”

Yep.  Which has me worried…

let the assholes flail.  the few people who have yet to make up their minds will get very tired of trying to make sense of this and fall to Obama.

Yep—a few weeks ago I blogged that it looked like Fox New was flailing around trying to find a line—and failing to make anything stick.

That would be good.
