McCain Hates Christians And Jews

So, when you use overt Christian and Jewish references to attack a politician, does that make you a steely-eyed maverick or a charming, irrepressible scamp?

The weird thing is, this feels more like a Scientology video than the obvious megachurch amp-it-up video it’s supposed to be.  Is John McCain a crazy cultist like Tom Cruise?  I don’t know, but I heard it on the internet somewhere!

UPDATE:  Yeah.  Watching TV news, every anchor is careful when discussing the McCain campaign’s descent into batshittery to say that “both sides” are going negative.  Because we all remember the Obama campaign’s Fourth of July ad calling John McCain a gook-hating warmonger, or their leaked web ad that compared him to Imelda Marcos for his Ferragamos.

UPDATE TWO:  Or the one where it pointed out the McCain campaign’s fundraising for numerous other entities.

Wow.  I’ve seen campaign commercials that were misleading, cruel, and void of substance, but McCain’s is I think the first campaign that could be described as passive aggressive and petty (as well as misleading and void of substance).  Who’s calling Barack Obama “the One”?  Oh, right, the strawmen and strawwomen that the Republicans keep talking about.  It would be incredibly pathetic if McCain and Obama weren’t still polling so close.  How is this guy legitimately still in the running?

It must be a full time job trying to find nice things to say about the McCain campaign.  Those codpiece-kissers at the MSM are really earning their BBQ on this.  If I was an anchor, I’d probably just toss my script in the trash and walk.  At least GW pretended to be something other than a whiny, brain-dead, empty suite.

Wow.

Nothing on issues ... nothing on what McCain stands for ... nothing of any substance ... just a bunch of batshit.  Good job, Mr. Respectful Campaigning.

Pretty clear that McSame has nothing more to offer than W does - otherwise, his ads would be about McSame, they wouldn’t constantly star Obama.

And what, exactly, was the point of that earlier McSame ad with the voices of destiny from history???

I can’t help thinking that at some point, people are going to start thinking that McCain is nothing but a whiner. Day after day after day, McCain whines about Obama, whines about the press, whines about Obama, whines about something else, over and over and over, without a break, without a pause. Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine.

I’m amazed that even the GOP lapdog press can stand to talk about him without spitting, much less the rest of the country.

Who the hell does the voice over on that ... he sounds like the same guy who did the “Henry Weinhard’s Private Reserve” beer ads in the late 70s and early 80s.

Oh, and I think his base is going to get very confused by that whole thing ... it only works if you have some sort of irony understanding ability.  They might just chant “obama” along with the crowd because they are so used to doing it when church gets churchy like that.

Wow, that’s…the most positive anti-Obama ad I’ve ever seen.

Is it bad that this ad just made me like Obama more? It’s the kind of thing I’d expect to see on a Daily show spot, not in an actual campaign commercial. (Come on, can’t you just hear Jon Stewart’s final wisecrack when the camera cuts back to the news desk after the final apocalyptic “is he ready to lead”?) And yeah, I know Colbert talked about running in South Carolina, but maybe McCain should be trying less to seem like a comedian, and more to seem like a Presidential candidate.

They’re calling him the antichrist. They picked quotes from him that are really similar to pro-antichrist quotes from off brand Left Behind stuff.

and there’s nothing like a good pro-antichrist quote!

over on moderate voice, joe gandelman posits that the sleazy approach will turn most independent voters off of mccain, and i’m inclined to believe that.

Frankly, they’ve been calling him the antichrist since his speech at the Democratic Convention in 2004.  Not that old smears don’t have power, but I think that the people who would buy that one have already heard it, so it won’t win any new converts.  So to speak.

Wow that is batshit insane.

I note that the quote is contested.  People who actually heard Obama say he said “I have *just* become a symbol ...” the quote without an ellipses is not just removing context but falsifying the text.

There is a dog whistle aspect of this ad.  The people who expect the end times are near believe that Satan will become a world leader.  To tens of millions of US voters, the ad is clearly saying that Obama is satan.  At least Larry Madill thinks so. http://tinyurl.com/5p36tm
