Next entry: Palin Roundup Previous entry: Daddy D and gay conservatives agree on Palin

Apparently, the master will live long enough to see his student succeed him.

“[Sarah Palin is] going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he’ll be around at least that long,” said Charlie Black, one of Mr. McCain’s top advisers, making light of concerns about Mr. McCain’s health, which Mr. McCain’s doctors reported as excellent in May.

I’m not entirely sure if the image that McCain should be selling is that of the elder, ailing sensei training his impudent but promising student.  Granted, I think the idea of a member of the Revolutionary Guard screaming, “Put her in a bodybag!” while she faces off with Mahmoud Achmadinejad at the All-Valley Negotiating Tournament would make for one of the greatest moments in foreign policy ever, but I don’t know if it’s worth the attendant ruination of everything else for that one scene.

Regardless, if this is the way that McCain wants to go, then there’s one thing above all else that must happenWe need a montage:

One reason Dan Quayle was picked by George Bush Sr. is he posed no serious threat to the dynasty.  If things had worked the way they wanted, GHW Bush would have finished his 2nd term in 1996, Quayle would have gone nowhere in the primaries, and Jeb could have picked it up, maybe handing off to W. later.

Clinton and Perot fucked that up, but it had a good chance of working.

Palin serves the same purpose here.  If McCain gets the nod, he’s no danger of being a 2-termer (he might not make it through one), and Palin would not be a serious threat in 2012.  This leaves the field open for Jeb Bush, Romney, or some other Repug hack.

If McCain loses, both he and she quietly disappear, again leaving 2012 open for whoever the Reichwing powers choose.  They tie up Obama for 4-years making him ineffective (one might even say Carter-ish), and swoop in for the kill.

IMHO…

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

“Iraq is peaceful and stable.”

Did McCain tell her at the end of those four years her journey to the Dark Side of the Force would be complete?

“At the foot of the master?”

Are they going to be doing S/M? Will there be bondage? I bet McCain secretly likes to be the bottom, after all, he is a POW. smile

That was their plan for Clinton, and we all saw how well it worked.  The ‘thugs lost twice and had to cheat like high holy hell in multiple states and still leaned heavily on a stacked SCOTUS to finally 8 years later bring in a President who, if not for 9/11, wouldn’t have survived one term much less two.

Don’t forget to breathe, very important.

The Republicans would be having fits if Democrats tried to float the idea of putting training wheels on the vice presidency.

Four years should be about enough time for the two of them to figure out the difference between shi’ite and sunni.

I have not seen/heard this formulation, but I think McCain LEAVES experience on the table, but the tables are turned. There are two possibilities:

1) McCain thinks someone with less experience than Obama should NOT be Commander in Chief, then recklessly endangers the country with his VP pick, for political gain.

or

2) McCain has changed his mind literally overnight about necessary qualifications for C-in-C.

Neither possibility paints a very attractive picture of McCain’s judgment.

McCain just said Palin’s husband drives a “snow machine”.

“[Sarah Palin is] going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years,

Well, that’s right up there with learing Speed Seduction from PeeWee Herman, defensive driving from helen Keller, and polevaulting from Jabba the Hutt.
