Awwwww. Dogs are such wonderful proof that there is some good left in the world.

Oooo he’s a handsome one. But I’m a cat person through and through.

Comment #2: StarStorm  on  06/28  at  02:36 PM

That’s a gorgeous dog, but that first photo made me smell dog breath.  Yeew!!!!

Comment #3: idiosynchronic  on  06/28  at  02:47 PM

Idiosynchronic - Mort’s breath is neutral.  And I don’t mean that in a “my dog is the best” way, I mean that in a swear-to-god, he stinks everywhere else but his breath is odorless kind of way.

For some reason I thought this was an Amanda post, and I was going to comment that Amanda is clearly one of those people who looks like their dog.  In a cute way.  Like, as in, they basically have the same haircut (something about the length and precise angle of Mort’s ears, and general coat color).

But then I realized this is Jesse’s dog, not Amanda’s.  Though, seriously, if anyone ever makes a cartoon dogs version of Pandagon, Amanda is definitely a chocolate lab with longish floppy-ish ears and spunkily expressive eyes.

Oh god this comment is going downhill quite rapidly…  I think there are some greenmarket vegetables in my kitchen I should be chopping right about now…

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. is it hard to get work done at home, what with the irresistible temptation of smushing that face?

re: breath. my experience with labs has been similar—for all their many, many odors, the breath isn’t really a problem. it might be the 5,000 gallons of water they drink (and then dribble on the floor) every day.

Doggy! I’m the only one of my friends that would never, ever own a cat. We were having drinks at home the other night while watching a local adopt-an-animal program when I remarked that dogs are far better than cats. Seconds after I said this, the female host presented the next animal- probably the tenth cat in half an hour versus three dogs- with an exasperated: “And here’s yet another cat”.

To be fair, she was probably exasperated at the fact that there was an overabundance of cats that weren’t finding homes compared to the dogs.

My doxies, on the other hand, have very little odor of their own (they are the least doggie-smelling dogs I’ve ever owned), but their breath could peel paint.

(And yes, I brush their teeth, and feed them hard food and dental treats and even tiny puppy Altoids…)

Those are sad-looking eyes.

Comment #9: Doug S.  on  06/28  at  05:55 PM

I thought the same thing, Doug. Some dogs just have a basic I-need-antidepressants look to them.

He’s part bloodhound, I think, which makes him look like the world’s ending even when he’s eating treats and getting chest rubs.

Ah, glad I read down ... I knew there was some hound in that there dawg!

Arooooooo to you!

Aw, Mort, you’re on the interweb! He looks so good and shiny.

PUPPY!!!!!!
God, I want a dog. I can’t have one where I live, but I want one sooo much. Your looks like a sweetheart.

You are obviously trying to compete with TBogg’s Basset Blogging, but you are handicapped by the fact that you don’t have Bassets, the cutest dogs ever.  Actually I had a Lab before I started getting Bassets, and they’re pretty cute too.  But they chew too much (furniture, the carpet, shoes, clothes….).

Oh I see, he/she’s actually part hound dog.  No wonder he/she is so cute.
