Music Fridays: Kansas Edition

Music

I'm in Wichita today, so for those who live here and want to see me speak, please come out to College Hill United Methodist Church, where I'll be presenting with a panel about progressivism in red states. If you are or if you aren't, however, may I suggest Panda Party? And a video by one of my favorite Kansas bands:

I should be able to Panda Party today, and that means hopefully blogging!

There’s a presentation I wish I could hear.  I’d love to know how progressivism is, um, progressing out in Red America (which is probably out of line, since where I live is unquestionably the bluest of the blue).

I’m here in Kansas, and would love to know how to get us a little less red.  Johnson County, where Amanda spoke Wednesday and Thursday, was represented by a Dem for 10 years, but when he abruptly retired for health reasons before the last election, a tea-partier masquerading as a moderate won, and nobody even seems to be challenging him this year!  Amanda, is there a podcast or something for those of us who weren’t able to see you in person?

@gretchen, Kansas NOW recorded both Wednesday & Thursday and should be uploading the videos to their youtube soon.  It was also tweeted under the hashtag #ksprog.

gretchen, I really wish the Democrats would cut that out.  I can still remember the first election after the Iraq invasion when 3 - THREE - Senate Republicans ran unopposed.  I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen an election without a GOP candidate in it, no matter how popular the incumbent Democrat was (& I live in DC, where we don’t have Republicans).  Seriously, if anyone’s seen an instance of that anytime in the past 20 years, please ... point it out.

The world needs more gas tank basses.
