My Country, Sweet Land Of Hackery

There’s a very simple way to explain David Broder.

Bill Clinton ruined the moral fabric of his nation.

George W. Bush ruined the moral fabric of some other shithole.

When I read Greenwald this morning, I should have been surprised by the incredible hypocrasy of the whole thing.  But after all these years of living in BushLand, you just take it in stride.

The last 8-years have served as a good reminder to us proles that we are nearly powerless.  We have about as much effect on the direction things go as a canoe paddle would on a cruise ship.  No matter how many of us think impeachment, for example, is the only appropriate response to Bushism, if the real powers - Congress, The Media, and the Overclass - don’t want it, it won’t happen.  And if they want to nail the president for jay-walking, they’re going to do it whether we want it or not.

I resigned myself to the fact that members of the Cheney/Bush criminal organization will never be held accountable for their actions.  So I guess I’m at peace (or acceptance, or something)...

The one thing that I’m angry about is the distinct possibility/probability that “The Dean” and the rest of the suckups occupying The Village will suddenly get reanimated and discover their purpose in tearing down an Obama administration.

After a nearly continuous reign of republican/conservative/neocon destruction since 1968, I’m more than ready to give the new guy a chance.

I just hope there are enough other Americans who feel the same AND can overcome any racism they might have and pull the lever for NotMcCain, instead of pulling the lever for NotObama…

O, how I long to return to the country of my birth….

*I* thought that the conservatives blamed hippies and the summer of love for the ruination of whatever moral fabric this country could still claim, after all the many many many many immoral wars and acts of imperial agression we committed…

denelian, to some extent, Bill Clinton was a stand-in for the ‘60’s, as unfair as that is.  His actions as a youth were questioned, his politics as a youth were questioned, his attitude toward the Vietnam War was condemned, going to Oxford was condemned, etc…

And somehow, even though GWBush is the same age, being in the TANG (for however long he bothered to go), being the son of Bushs, and being a Republican allowed him to escape with (literally) murder.  Everything he did before he was 40 is off the menu and cannot be questioned…

you noticed that too, huh?

sorry, actually most of the people i know say exactly what you say, Mike (even if they don’t say it as elequently…)

so if *I* can see it and *you can see it and *they* can see it… how does the frame still hold?

meh. i don’t like it, so i don’t want to understand, really. which, ha! is what the Reps do, except they are wrong and i am right *giggle*
