I feel bad about this. DeLay does, and has done, so many genuinely scummy things—why get on his case about the one thing he does that’s really benign?

I hate the treatment of DeLay as a harmless and benign political figure who is a nice guy just cuttin’ a rug and not a felon who attempted to disenfranchise minorities through redistricting. Oh har har—it’s the hammer! It’s whitewashing.
