Obama will engage in politicking, says apolitical Karl Rove

Choads

I can’t decide which bothers me more: That Karl Rove is being taken seriously in his Obama VP predictions, or that he’s being taking seriously in his characterizations of same. (Actually, it’s option C: That he’s not in jail for Contempt of Congress.)

Republican strategist Karl Rove said on Face The Nation Sunday that he expects presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama to choose a running mate based on political calculations, not the person’s readiness for the job.

Outraged yet? You should be. This thing that Obama hasn’t done, for reasons that Karl Rove has defined, just goes to show that Democrats are too cynical in their future theoretical possible actions. And you can trust Karl Rove’s analysis, because the very last thing Rove would do is make political calculations.

Um ... if readiness to lead is a political issue, it will enter the political calculus apriori, no?

Doh.

Meanwhile, Bush should have never been president - he should have been going to sporting events and cheering on our team for the last eight years.  He’s good at this.  He loves to do it.  Special Athletic Event Emissary for the State Department.

(sorry, Nazi reference coming...)

Karl Rove reminds me of nothing so much as a cross between a high-ranking official in Nazi Germany and Rasputin — pure, cynical, unadulterated evil.

But where the Nazis killed themselves or were held accountable and executed at Nuremberg, Karl will be annoying us for decades.  There is no god…

Because everyone knows that Dan Quayle was ready to step into HW’s shoes from day one.  Christ.

Mnemosyne beat me to the the punch.

Whatever happened to the guy who Ike tapped as his VP in ‘52?  I recall reading that his qualifications at that point in time were pretty damn thin, too.
