On goodbye flight to TX, Bush soothes wistful Gonzo with a kiss

Just pathetic. The loyal Bushies—count among them Karl Rove, Margaret Spellings and tool Alberto Gonzales—flew to Texas for Bush’s “welcome home” fete after he passed the torch to Obama and became a former president. Apparently there was a little emotional man-love on the flight. Here’s Gonzo reliving the moment and sharing it with Cox News reporter Ken Herman.

GONZALES: The last thing he said as he was getting off the plane — he kissed me on the forehead — and he said, “Just stay strong.” […]
HERMAN: Any tears shed on the plane by anybody?
GONZALES: By me, yeah. There were a few.
HERMAN: Why?
GONZALES: Just pride. Just love and appreciation for the man and what he did, Ken. I feel — being on this trip did a lot for me, in terms of just making me realize — it was a small part, but I played a part in protecting our country, and I take a great deal of pride in that.

Watch this pathetic video of Gonzo; there’s serious denial that all these Bush loyalists earned a paycheck on our dime as we watched them f*ck up the country.

Hat tip, Think Progress

Can we now put to rest the idea that being a Bushite was any different from being in a cult?

That whole “we make our own reality” thing should have been a big clue…

Pathetic

I just realized what we should do with Guantanamo:  It can be the new home of our American war criminals (Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Condi, Addington, Yoo, etc.), an American Spandau Prison.  Seems very fitting to me…

One year from now, I can’t see this incompetent toady anywhere else but skimming the pool at a certain house in a lily-white Dallas suburb.

“One year from now, I can’t see this incompetent toady anywhere else but skimming the pool at a certain house in a lily-white Dallas suburb.”

...where he gets stopped by police once a week while driving to Bushland for being in the “wrong part of town” while brown…

SERIOUSLY?  Gonzales strikes me as pathetic, hypnotized by some sort of misplaced admiration and loyalty for a man who also was in a job far beyond his capabilities but some of the other people are downright scary like the guy who insists that Bush critics just don’t understand things like “having a moral compass.”  Cult indeed.

Comment #6: pennylane  on  01/22  at  11:20 AM

Seriously, what kind of grown adult allows another adult field/colleague to kiss him on the forehead?

Comment #7: Tyro  on  01/22  at  11:46 AM

Gonzo is seriously gay, and seriously in love with GWB. Which is gross but true.

Gay myself, my Gaydar goes off red into the deep maroon zone when little Gonzo comes into view.

As for GWB himself, we’re talking yellow/orange on the meter.

Hey, george. It’s supposed to be on the cheek. I wonder if Cheney will do the hit.

I think the size of the inaugural crowd got to some of these people—they’re in denial still, of course, but at some level they know that the whole country despises them.

I too get the impression that Gonzales is smitten with Dubya, but it’s more like passionately asexual.  Karl Rove is the same way.

Incidentally, Gonzales reminds me of Blagojevich and vice-versa.  Maybe it’s their attitudinal merger of simpering, obfuscation, and hostility.  That, or the hair-to-head proportion.

I don’t really understand the man-crush/submissive dynamic that a lot of men have with Bush. I don’t understand how they deal with it—I’d find the whole thing to be such a degrading experience.

This dosen’t make me think “gay” ... it makes me think “Time Bandits”.  Specifically, the scene in Time Bandits where the Devil interacts with and then zaps away one of his drooling, inept, psycophantic minions who thanks him in advance for the honor of being killed.

Oh great ... and now this Cake song is eating a lobe of my brain:

“Hem Of Your Garment”

I am intrinsically no good
I have a heart that’s made of wood
I am only biding time
Only reciting memorized lines
And I’m not fit to touch
The hem of your garment

No, no I’m not fit to touch the hem of your garment

I have no love but only goals
How very empty is my soul
It is a soul that feels no thrill
A soul that could easily kill
And I’m not fit to touch
The hem of your garment

No, no I’m not fit to touch the hem of your garment

I am intrinsically no good
I have a heart that’s made of wood
I am only biding time
Only reciting memorized lines
And I’m not fit to touch
The hem of your garment

I am intrinsically no good
I have a heart that’s made of wood
I am only biding time
Only reciting memorized lines
And I’m not fit to touch

No, no I’m not fit to touch the hem of your garment
The hem of your garment

Gonzales is my pick for Bushite most likely to suffer serious negative consequences for his role in the administrations crimes.  He isn’t part of the old boy network and he’s hispanic so the larger penumbra of the network will be less likely to look out for him out of simple bigotry.  Most of the upper echelon Bush cronies will be taken care of within the wingnut welfare system.  Gonzo is going to get dregs unless he parlays his ethnicity into a meal ticket by immigration hysteria mongering on the hispanic panic model, in which case he’ll be a multi millionaire in a matter of months.

I read that at the staff celebration, he kissed Dana Perino on the forehead, too. I think it’s a dominance thing, like calling everyone by nicknames. “I’m pretending to show affection, but really I’m showing that I’m the boss by kissing you like someone would kiss a small child.”

Comment #15: Redshift  on  01/22  at  04:20 PM

Bush and Gonzo: “I wish I knew how to quit you!”

entire United States: “US TOO.”

...shuttup that joke is totally not dead yet… :p

Comment #16: Bagelsan  on  01/22  at  07:10 PM

I wonder when Gonzo and Shrub will finally give up on the pretense, move to Massachusetts, and open a nice little Log Cabin Republicans gift shoppe in the South End?

Seriously.  Kiss on the forehead?  And Gonzo actually told the press about it?????

Comment #17: Ellid  on  01/22  at  09:10 PM

I despise Alberto Gonzalez. The man made a living joke of the Justice Department.

Obama’s crew will be fumigating that area for years to get the stink of cronyism out.

One more thing….

Is it me or does it look like Gonzalez has pink-eye in that video clip?

Comment #19: CHV  on  01/22  at  09:51 PM

I noticed that too ... he’s pink right down to his conjunctiva!

Is it bad of me to want to call him Igor?

Comment #20: Ms Kate  on  01/22  at  11:55 PM

I think its the results of Berto’s exposure to the Dark Side - albeit an extremely incompetent one. Had Gonzalez been a Sith Lord his name no doubt would have been Darth Crotchsniffer (as in George Bush’s).

Being his boss’ legal stooge was the only part of his job as A.G. that Gonzo ever took seriously. The man is a disgrace.

Comment #21: CHV  on  01/23  at  12:34 AM

Okay, I have it. This forehead kiss thing has been nagging at some corner of my brain all day, and now I know why: it sounds like something the Pope would do. How unpleasantly appropriate.

The only explanation I can come up with for this phenomena is in Bush they see themselves as THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE.  A spoiled frat brat who had every advantage in life that they did not have and somehow, Bush just kept failing upwards, whereas without Bush, Gonzo and Turd Blossom could not have even failed sideways.  They admire Bush for this, they’re jealous of it, they’re hoping it might rub off on them.

Well, Bush did rub off on Gonzo and he’s going to carry that stench with him for the rest of his miserable, pathetic life.  Unfortunately, that’s probably the only justice we are going to see as far as he’s concerned.

Comment #23: kac90b  on  01/23  at  09:24 AM

Has Gonzo even found a job yet? He’s going to get blackballed by all the white glove law firms because of his very real ethical problems.

And yeah, kac90b, there’s serious projection going on. The Repubs have always marketed themselves as the party poor white guys can aspire to. Just ignore all that ‘rob the poor to give to the rich’ thing.
