Panic from the desk of Don Wildmon - America will ceast to exist ‘if liberals win the election’

Look at the latest e-blast from the American Family Association’s Don Wildmon. Do you think he wakes up at night worrying about our country, or that the AFA’s coffers are running low. You decide. Via Right Wing Watch:

Please vote! Our children’s future depends on it!

In my 70 years, I have never seen an election where coverage was so one-sided and biased or where censorship by the liberal media was so widely practiced and where media coverage was so slanted as I have seen in this election process. Their plan is working. The only chance conservatives have is to make sure they care enough to vote.

If the liberals win the upcoming election, America as we have known it will no longer exist. This country that we love, founded on Judeo-Christian values, will cease to exist and will be replaced by a secular state hostile to Christianity. This “city set on a hill” which our forefathers founded, will go dark. The damage will be deep and long lasting. It cannot be turned around in the next election, or the one after that, or by any election in the future. The damage will be permanent. That is why it is so important for you to vote and to encourage friends and family to vote. This is one election where your vote really counts.

Is there a chance God will call him home if Obama wins? It would almost make it worth believing in Him.

If the liberals win the upcoming election, America as we have known it will no longer exist.

I truly hope that he is right.

This country that we love, founded on Judeo-Christian values, will cease to exist and will be replaced by a secular state hostile to Christianity.

We should only be so lucky.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get rid of the crazy?  Or, most of it anyway.

Comment #4: kac90b  on  10/19  at  10:45 PM

An ass I work with has been going around the office saying the very same thing….now I know where he’s been getting his talking points.  We had to call HR on him a few weeks ago and they told him to shut the fuck up (however HR puts it) and he’s actually been fairly quiet since then.  It will be real interesting to see his response once the election is over though.

The damage will be permanant

Wow, this guy doesn’t think much of his party or his God.

C’mon, jackass, Christianity rose to the top from origins as a persecuted minority once already, why so insistent that it can’t be done a second time?  Did Jehovah lose the piece of paper He wrote all the cheat codes on?

Comment #6: Kyra  on  10/19  at  10:59 PM

These people are beginning to scare me a little.  That sounds like a rationalization of post-election violence . . .

Comment #7: rea  on  10/19  at  11:02 PM

The pre-election violence has already started. When they lose they’ll close ranks and hunker down. Look for more Wacos, more Ruby Ridges.

Comment #8: brenda  on  10/19  at  11:22 PM

I love, love, love the AFA mailing list.  I subscribed to it almost half a year ago and have not regretted it yet.  They give me something new to laugh at every week.

Comment #9: Jackalopemonger  on  10/19  at  11:40 PM

So when Wildmon loses the next election, he’ll shave his head, give away all his worldly goods and go live on a hilltop in Jerusalem or something? Since nothing he can ever do again can save America, and all.

Comment #10: mythago  on  10/19  at  11:43 PM

You know, brenda, I think you’ve hit on it. The threat of overseas terrorism is nothing compared to the possibility of a resurgent militia movement who have had time to study guerilla tactics in the Iraqi insurgency.

Comment #11: Brian X  on  10/20  at  12:04 AM

If the liberals win the upcoming election, America as we have known it will no longer exist.

Just like America ceased to exist in 1992.

Comment #12: Phoenician in a time of Romans  on  10/20  at  12:26 AM

Yeah, and I heard the librul media say that the last eight years under President Bush haven’t been very good!!  Bastards.  Oh wait, that was John McCain who said that.  Never mind.

Comment #13: Frederick  on  10/20  at  12:31 AM

Their panic is getting pretty funny.  How Wildmon thinks the Christian Obama is more hostile to Christianity than the religiously indifferent Ronald Raygun defies all logic.

We haven’t had a liberal president in 40 years and LBJ was mix at that with Vietnam around his neck.  With all the rhetoric of Rush et al setting up their strawmen arguments of what the libruls and feminazis believe and want, one can understand some of the paranoia.

Comment #14: MiddleageLiberal  on  10/20  at  12:32 AM

What perks is Wildmon getting from the Rs? Faith-based Initiative money? Or simply an administration that doesn’t treat him like the manipulative, morally-bankrupt sociopath that he is?

Either way, the gravy train ride is over. Sorry, you fatuous old fuck.

Comment #15: Molly, NYC  on  10/20  at  12:32 AM

“This “city set on a hill” which our forefathers founded, will go dark.”

You’ve got to fucking kidding me right?  He actually not only thought this but wrote it down and then sent it to people?  There really is no moral bottom to the republicans anymore, is there?  Hey, kudos to the wildman for being more honest than he usually is and stating his concern in plain english.

Comment #16: ice weasel  on  10/20  at  01:17 AM

Wildmon fumes, ¨This country that we love, founded on Judeo-Christian values, will cease to exist and will be replaced by a secular state hostile to Christianity.¨

Oh good.

Is Christianity so unattractive that, when presented with freedom to choose religious values, people will not choose Christian ones? That is the only explanation I can think of for why freedom from state coercion to Christianity would be the threat that Wildmon and the conservatives claim it is.

Comment #17: Luke  on  10/20  at  01:46 AM

It cannot be turned around in the next election, or the one after that, or by any election in the future. The damage will be permanent.

Let’s all write him after Obama is elected and ask him when he plans to dissolve his open sewer of an organization.

Comment #18: sunsin  on  10/20  at  02:09 AM

oh please oh please oh please let it be true!

Maybe we can even have a rapture?!

Unfortunately, a rapture would leave wildmon and his ilk waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind.

Comment #19: jerry  on  10/20  at  02:22 AM

The Rev Wildmon waxes alarmist over the pending liberal takeover of America. I wonder what nefarious plans the soon-to-be liberal White House will enact that will forever destroy America as we know it? Could we see a diminution of the religious bigotry that believes homos are out to destroy society? Could they fear a resurgence of the religious tolerance established by our Constitution? Or do they fear an America that respects differences in private beliefs while recognizing the distinctions between articles of faith and matters of science. “History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government,” said Thomas Jefferson, “This marks the lowest grade of ignorance of which their civil as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purposes.”

Comment #20: BobbyV  on  10/20  at  08:09 AM

I know the Reichwing and the fundnuts are divorced from any recognizable version of reality, but I’m still kind of befuddled by the bullshit Obama-as-Marxist meme going around over there in wingnuttia.

As has been pointed out over and over, a quick look at the Republican platform in 1968 shows it to be more leftist in general than the current Democratic platform.

As a nation, we’ve moved so far over to the right anybody suggesting (for example) maybe we shouldn’t be tapping everyone’s phones and collecting recordings and transcripts, or maybe we shouldn’t be torturing prisoners from which we have stripped all civil rights, is considered the equivalent of some kind sandal-wearing, bandanna-on-their-unwashed-head, Dirty-Fucking-Hippie, peacenik, Little-Red-Book-carrying, radical Jane-Fonda wannabe.

Their perspective is completely lacking.  If their self-imposed ignorance and rampant paranoia weren’t so destructive to the country it might be interesting to watch.  As it is, it just makes our political and social divides that much harder to bridge, which makes the job of fixing this very broken nation that much harder…

Comment #21: MikeEss  on  10/20  at  09:51 AM

They’re afraid that liberals want to do to them what they want to do to us, to whit, impose our ethical system on them, the way they want to impose theirs on us. Except they don’t think we have any morals, so it becomes “OMG teh godless will force us all to gay marry and tell our kids Dawkins is God!!!!”

I heard a similar argument against allowing gay men in the military. Those opposed were afraid that gay men would pursue and oggle straight men in the same way that straight men (well, those particular straight men) pursue and oggle women.

It’s all projection. That, and trying to scare up more cash raspberry

Comment #22: Jan Heirtzler  on  10/20  at  09:58 AM

If the liberals win the upcoming election, America as we have known it will no longer exist.

Uhh… that’s the point, stupid.

Comment #23: Rachel  on  10/20  at  11:37 AM

Dear Don,
Thanks for your letter. I will indeed be voting on November 4th and I will be voting for Obama and against CA. Proposition 8. I long for the end of your vision of America and am fervently hoping for “our long national nightmare” to be over. I AM doing this for the children because I want them to grow up in precisely the kind of country you are so afraid of.

You’ve got to fucking kidding me right?  He actually not only thought this but wrote it down and then sent it to people?

I think he meant to say the city will go darky.

Comment #25: ummeli  on  10/20  at  12:54 PM

Dear Don:

You guessed it.  Obama is indeed the anti-Christ.  We’ve been work so diligently, us little imps, to bring this about.  And finally (bwahahaha) we’re going to take over EVERYTHING!!!!

Of course, we’re going to have to keep it disguised for awhile since we have to get ready for Armageddon.  While we’re stockpiling our magic anti-Jesus weapons you can count on us to provide health care for the poor, keep the Wall Street jackels in line, treat even whack-job Christians with tolerance, feed the hungry, cover the naked, give drink to the thirsty, etc., etc., etc.

So, you better hope your sorry ass gets raptured up before we discard our masks to reveal the blood thirsty slavering beast beneath, or you’re gonna have a real bummer of a day.

Signed,
Minion of Darkness #43,666.
