Robertson: “I don’t really believe homos want to get married,” they just want to “destroy marriage”

Batsh*t CrazyFundiesLGBT

Kate and I married in 2004; we forgot to crack open The Homosexual Agenda in order to get with the marriage-destroying program…dammit, look, it’s right here:

6:00 am Gym
8:00 AM Breakfast
9:00 AM Hair appointment
10:00 AM Shopping
12:00 PM Brunch
2:00 PM (Here’s the really important part)

1) Assume complete control of the US Federal, State and local Governments as well as all other national governments
2) Recruit all straight youngsters to our debauched lifestyle
3) Destroy all healthy heterosexual marriages
4) Replace all school counselors in grades K-12 with agents of Colombian and Jamaican drug cartels
5) Establish planetary chain of “homo breeding gulags” where over -medicated imprisoned straight women are turned into artificially impregnated baby factories to produce prepubescent love slaves for our devotedly pederastic gay leadership
6) Bulldoze all houses of worship
7) Secure total control of the INTERNET and all mass media for the exclusive use of child pornographers.

2:30 PM Get Forty Winks of Beauty Rest to prevent facial wrinkles from stress of world conquest
4:00 PM Cocktails
6:00 PM Light Dinner
8:00 PM Theater
11:00 PM Bed

Media Matters brings you that sad state of Crazy Pat’s mind from the October 20 edition of Christian Broadcasting Network’s The 700 Club:

Surely not Jamaican drug cartels? They hate teh gay over there, by and large.

Comment #1: Rebecca  on  10/22  at  05:11 PM

But this all sounds like hard work! Can’t we carve out just a little bit of time for debauchery and wild, depraved orgies? Because, you know, that’s what gay people DO.

Comment #2: Thessa Mercury  on  10/22  at  05:13 PM

My favorite part of that video was when the young woman at the end said Christians don’t act offended enough.

Anyway, the “homosexuals want to get married to destroy marriage” is a good line, but doesn’t go far enough. They want to destroy this country, which is why they insidiously plotted to be born and raised here, thereby becoming “citizens” with “rights.” How eeeeevil.

Comment #3: Bitter Scribe  on  10/22  at  05:22 PM

They make it sound easy ... destroying marriage.

Then again, heterosexuals in the red states make it a much easier task, with all their divorcing and all.

Comment #4: Ms Kate  on  10/22  at  05:29 PM

Hah.  If these power-mad asshats really thought that being gay would let you take over the world, they’d all be putting into practice their supposed belief gay folk choose to be that way.

Comment #5: libdevil  on  10/22  at  05:39 PM

I knew it! The gayz are channeling Pinky and the Brain.  “What are we going to do tonight, Brain?”  “Same as every night.  Try to destroy marriage.”

Comment #6: Iam138  on  10/22  at  05:50 PM

My favorite part of that video was when the young woman at the end said Christians don’t act offended enough.

I remember as a teenager that a woman in my church group got hyper-offended when I even mentioned the word “evolution”.  I knew it could be a touchy subject, so I just mildly suggested that it doesn’t conflict with our faith, which was even the official stance of our church.  She got offended and went off on a tirade about how evolution never happened, and there was no big bang (which has nothing to to do with evolution), etc.  If this woman acts any more offended, she’ll lose her voice from yelling so much.  After that I point, I didn’t even risk saying “Happy Holidays” to her, even though she celebrates two holidays around the same time of year.  I was often tempted to say “Merry Christmas and I hope your New Year sucks”, but the irony would have been lost on her.

Comment #7: bananacat  on  10/22  at  06:01 PM

It takes a truly closeted man to conclude that simply offering people the freedom to enter into a marriage contract with another of the same sex with result in the end of heterosexual marriage as an institution.  Does Robertson secretly feel that everyone has the same secret thoughts he does?

:-p The whole thing is no more absurd than Teletubes brainwashing your kids into becoming cross dressers or rap music turning young teens into violent murderers or condoms killing babies.  It’s more nonsense from the diseased mind of a greedy old man.

When will God get around to rapturing that fruitloop, anyway?

Comment #8: Zifnab  on  10/22  at  06:07 PM

Ah, good christianists playing to the hate.  It’s a safe and proven strategy for them.  Luckily for the rest of us that group of dimwits is getting smaller every year.

Comment #9: ice weasel  on  10/22  at  06:09 PM

In California news, the judge in the case that’s being argued to overturn Prop 8 has said that the people arguing it should be upheld are going to have to explain what harm heterosexual couples will suffer if gay people are allowed to get married.  Given that the lead counsel’s answer to the judge’s question was, “I don’t know,” I have a feeling this isn’t going to go well for them.

Comment #10: Mnemosyne  on  10/22  at  06:10 PM

This is completely unbelievable.  Two hours for cocktails?  Come on, no-one would swallow that…

Comment #11: Phoenician in a time of Romans  on  10/22  at  06:18 PM

See what happens when you fall behind on the paperwork…

Zinfab, what makes you think God wants that loon around at all? I mean Robertson strikes me as the sort who would be up in the Boss’s face about how all that “forgiveness” and “agape” is all wrong.  So God will keep him down here for as long as possible.

Comment #12: histro-geek  on  10/22  at  06:25 PM

So God will keep him down here for as long as possible.

Hey, Falwell is gone.  I figure these guys can’t be so repulsive that they live forever.  Besides, “Made in his own image” and whatnot.  Maybe God is just a colossal twat.

Also,

Zinfab

Why does everyone spell that wrong?  ZiFNab.  F before N.  Say it with me now, brotha!  How do so many people get that backwards?

Maybe God is just a colossal twat.

You have to admit, it would explain a lot.

Maybe Robertson can’t accept that people on the opposite side of an issue from him aren’t cynically pursuing a power- and influence-grabbing agenda just like he is.  We are all Bizarro Pat Robertsons to him.

Comment #15: damnedyankee  on  10/22  at  06:52 PM

I flat out guarantee that #5 on the list is what scares the shit out of these people.

Comment #16: SufferingBruin  on  10/22  at  07:07 PM

Actually, #5 looks like the kind of thing the fundnuts would like to do themselves, maybe with slight modifications.  Gotta keep churning out those white babies for God and the Fatherland…

Comment #17: MikeEss  on  10/22  at  07:11 PM

Actually, God as “a colossal twat” would probably be a much kinder, more giving and generous and nurturing entity than anything that Pat Robertson would want.

To say nothing of the fact that he would flee screaming at the sight of her.

#6 is my personal favorite on the list. Those places take up too much real estate and they don’t pay any fucking taxes on it. IIRC, even cemetaries pay property taxes for christ sake.

I’ve been reading Kathryn Joyce’s book Quiverfull: Inside the Christian Patriarchy Movement, and you have no idea how close that is to the truth. Only, instead of “for the Fatherland”, they each want to be their own little Fuhrer in their own little private state where they rule over their wives and family like gods.

Destroy all healthy heterosexual marriages

Cuz clearly heterosexuals have not done a bang up job destroying heterosexual marriage themselves.

Comment #23: Lesly  on  10/22  at  08:27 PM

Oi, ProudLiberal1947, speaking as a piece of “White Trailer Trash” myself, I suggest you find a new epithet.

I thought the only way the homosexual agenda could destroy marriage was for a closeted gay to marry a straight person and then come out of the closet.

Comment #26: phinky  on  10/22  at  08:54 PM

another crazy, old jesus huckster who has started believe his own bullshit.

Comment #27: ice weasel  on  10/22  at  09:10 PM

I know that my marriage is just totally dependent on a sense of heterosexual privilege.  Take away my special feelings of bigoted superiority and I just can’t see how we could make it work anymore!

Comment #28: Ms Kate  on  10/22  at  10:16 PM

Well, as long as the queers only destroy the heterosexual marriages Robertson defines as healthy, all of us share-the-parenting-and-housework, no-wifebeating, no-closeted-rough-trade-on-the-side types will be fine.

Seriously, though, gay marriage, along with feminist marriages like jessica valenti’s, does carry with it the possibility of destroying “marriage” as Robertson and his fellow anti-sex, anti-life, misogynist patriarchal jerkwads understand it. And that could be one of the greatest steps forward for human happiness in a long time.

Comment #29: paul  on  10/22  at  10:25 PM

I don’t believe anyone does anything because they want to be happy. I think everyone spends all their time thinking about how to make sure other people are as miserable as possible. I mean, that’s what being a functioning human being is all about, right?

Regardless of which side you’re on….at what point does the ‘will of the people’ trump?

Isn’t that the whole point of democracy?

Comment #34: Not Your Stereotypical Nigger  on  10/23  at  12:41 AM

at what point does the ‘will of the people’ trump?

Democracy doesn’t mean people who hate me get to decide which human rights I get and don’t get. Just like I don’t get to decide that you spend the rest of your life with your face nailed to a wall.

Comment #35: junk science  on  10/23  at  12:45 AM

Regardless of which side you’re on….at what point does the ‘will of the people’ trump?

Not liberal or republican democracies, no.  Go read John Stuart Mills, “On Liberty”.

Comment #36: Phoenician in a time of Romans  on  10/23  at  12:52 AM

Human/Civil rights shouldn’t be up for a vote. That’s why they’re called rights and not benefits of being a white male or privileges of being an entitled straight douche.

Comment #37: shakahi  on  10/23  at  02:22 AM

I’m so sick of their cruelty.

Comment #38: Roxanne  on  10/23  at  02:48 AM

Regardless of which side you’re on….at what point does the ‘will of the people’ trump?

At the point where you can demonstrate actual harm to other people.  The lawyers arguing in favor of Prop 8 seem to be having trouble coming up with a reason that gay marriage is harmful to society so they’re resorting to, “Shut up, that’s why.”

Tell you what—you find me a cogent argument against letting two consenting adults get married that consists of something other than, “Because Jesus said so.”  I keep asking people to come up with one and I haven’t seen one yet that doesn’t boil down to, “It’s icky to think about them having sex.”  And?  It’s icky for me to think about Rupert Murdoch having sex, but that doesn’t mean I get to prevent him from marrying the person of his choice.

Comment #39: Mnemosyne  on  10/23  at  03:31 AM

Regardless of which side you’re on, at what point does “the human rights of the individual” trump popular prejudice?

Fortunately, popular prejudice is becoming increasingly unpopular….

Comment #40: Dr. Psycho  on  10/23  at  06:39 AM

Fizzbin!

Comment #41: KMac  on  10/23  at  08:40 AM

I think the will of the people should trump the human rights of the individual when that will is expressed as the law forbidding officers and employees of tax-exempt institutions apparently acting in their official capacity from engaging in political contributions (monetary or in-kind), electioneering, or calls for or against the passage of particular legislation.

Oh, wait.

Comment #42: paul  on  10/23  at  09:24 AM

Thanks for the reminder that he’s still alive. With republicans not trotting him (and Dobson, etc.) out all the time and instead hosting klan rallies (i.e. tea parties), it’s easy to forget all about their “family values.”

Comment #43: DC Fem  on  10/23  at  10:08 AM

Dammit.  KMac beat me to it.

Comment #44: elmo  on  10/23  at  10:21 AM

I don’t believe Pat Robertson really worships Jesus.  He just wants to destroy people’s lives.

Comment #45: drachonfire  on  10/23  at  10:54 AM

Robertson says “they”, i.e. homos, don’t want anything (read “government”) hindering their sex lives.  Well, as a practicing hetero, I don’t want government to hinder my sexuality either.

The “destroying marriage” argument is so bogus it’s hard to believe anyone swallows it.  I can’t think of how any hetero marriage is damaged by a gay couple getting married.  Plus, if anything, gay couples wanting to get married would seem to strengthen the institution by showing that more people want and value the institution.

Comment #46: MiddleageLiberal  on  10/23  at  11:26 AM

They make it sound easy ... destroying marriage.

Totally easy.  I’ve managed to destroy 2 so far.
(ok, they were my own, but you have to start somewhere)

Comment #47: cynickal  on  10/23  at  12:38 PM

I can’t think of how any hetero marriage is damaged by a gay couple getting married.

Any hetero marriage that relies on unquestioning acceptance by both parties of who is the “husband” and who the “wife” and the respective duties, rights, boundaries etc of those roles could be irreparably damaged by seeing yet another couple that doesn’t behave that way and still legally gets to have their relationship honored as a marriage.

Yeah, that’s like saying lymphoma can be irreparably damaged by chemotherapy.

Comment #48: paul  on  10/23  at  09:43 PM

“Then again, heterosexuals in the red states make it a much easier task, with all their divorcing and all.”

they only do that because of gay marriage.

i like that whole “debauchery” thing, the rest of it sounds like wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much work!
