Serial adulterer Rudy Giuliani blasts Paterson on marriage equality bill

Rudy’s gay friends, particularly the couple who let the former NY mayor bunk in their pad when his marriage was going south (Howard Koeppel and his partner, Mark), must think this bloviating is pathetic. (NYP):

The former mayor, in an extended interview with The Post, also predicted that Gov. Paterson’s high-profile effort to legalize gay marriage would anger many New Yorkers and spark a revolt that could help sweep Republicans into office in 2010.

“This will create a grass-roots movement. This is the kind of issue that, in many ways, is somewhat beyond politics,” said Giuliani, a two-term mayor who unsuccessfully sought the GOP presidential nomination last year.

I think gay marriage will obviously be an issue for any Republican next year because Republicans are either in favor of the position I’m in favor of, civil unions, or in many cases Republicans don’t even favor civil unions,” he continued.

The hypocrisy is astounding. Let’s just say you really want to be governor badly if you’re willing to expose yourself to extreme mockery. The Post’s Fredric Dicker couldn’t resist.

Giuliani, who is slated to address a Republican fund-raising gala in Albany tonight in what is widely described as further proof of his interest in running for governor, said he’s committed to the traditional definition of marriage.

Marriage, I believe, both traditionally and legally, has always been between a man and a woman and should remain between a man and woman,” said Giuliani, who has been married three times.

Giuliani’s position looks so retro, petty, and quite frankly hilarious in its hypocrisy now, particularly in the wake of Iowa and Vermont. If he thinks he can ride this homo-hate wave into office given his well-documented history of flip-flopping all over the place on equality, he’s smoking something strong.

UPDATE: His gay friends plan to marry in Connecticut, and apparently don’t think Rudy’s biased. Oy, Log Cabin Republican madness:

While Rudy Giuliani is waging war on gay marriage, his pals Howard Koeppel and Mark Hsaio are planning to go to Connecticut next month to tie the knot.

They see no contradiction in the ex-mayor’s opposition to gay marriage and the fact he roomed with them for six months in 2001.

Rudy doesn’t discriminate. I should know. I lived with him for six months,” Koeppel, 68, a car dealer, said yesterday outside his West Side apartment.

Koeppel, a Republican, said he believes that Giuliani’s opposition to gay marriage stems from his religious and political beliefs, not his personal ones.

Uh, what can you say behind that? I’m still trying to take in the statement that suggests religious beliefs aren’t personal.  As one of my readers said: “What the hell does that even mean?  Are there some beliefs that you believe and some beliefs you don’t believe??!  Perhaps that makes sense to Republicans, but I only hear the crazy talking.” I’m sure you all have plenty to say…

The comments at the NYP article are hilarious… they run the gamut from anger (and Freeper intelligence) to delusion that Rudy’s a credible candidate.

How do we know Rudy’s lying again?
His lips are stuttering.

Rudy Giuliani is the person who did not provide our firemen with proper radios, ones that worked in the WTC. He is guilty of criminally negligent homicide.

And he is clearly a closet fagg ot as well. So this is yet another lie, from the stuttering rat bas tard.

Patterson (the Mole) knows which side of the bread the butter is on. But changing the definition of marriage doesn’t add a single benefit to a domestic partnership contract. There are folks might not like the definition of Christmas, but don’t demand the holiday be depicted as a harvest festival…so instead they created their own holiday and called it Kwaanza. It seems to me that if one were so “proud” of his sexual orientation he wouldn’t have the desire to muddle it. Besides unless we are to also redifine or eliminate words like husband and wife the cat will be out of the bag anyway when somebody makes the remark that he and his “spouse” are dining out tonight. Barney Frank had a spouse—a Fanny Mae exec named Herb Moses…but the weprehensible BAwney Fwank always referred to Herb as a spouse—never as a wife. Don Henly sang about being poisoned by these fairy tales - one such is that only after a wedding ceremony and the assignment of the word (noise) “marriage” can 2 cohabitating homosexuals live happily ever after. Beside the fact that there is no benefit difference between a Domestic Partnership contract and a marriage contract both share the same restrictions in that in neither case can siblings marry or become domestic partners. But same sex siblings cannot produce sickly offspring so it must be a morality clause. That’s a real laffer.

what bothers me the most, that there are so many NYpost readers that support this marriage-for-perverts bill. It menas that much more(than I thought) people around me do like or “feel sorry” for those unspeakable part of population who mistaken exit and entrance.

the difference between Rudy and Spitzer? Spitzer paid for it. Al least Spitzer got convictions when he was a prosecutor…..Rudy is always divisive. Thanks Rudy you reminded the rest of us why you were a terrible Mayor or YOU weren’t responsible for crime coming down….

Also didn’t he live with two of his male Gay friends (their names escape me) after he “publicly” moved out of Gracie Mansion. If he has homosexual friends who are in a relationship, what type of friend is he to publicly support denying them the same benefit he enjoys no matter how many times he’s married.Who would do that to their “friends”.Rudy once again has shown that he’s an opportunist who throw anyone under the bus to obtain his goal. NYC residents had the “Rudy” experience and we don’t wish that nightmare on our own enemies, needless to say as Governor of our Great State. Rudy, keep steppin as they say.

Rudy can really mix it up when he gets focused. If he’s the best the opposition can muster in this wasteland of a state, so be it. Paterson has got to be given the boot.

He says that Gov. Patterson is supporting gay marriage for political reasons. And what exactly is Rudy doing by coming out against gay marriage? And NO ONE cares what Rudy thinks about ANYTHING. He is a three-time marriage loser, a cheating, lying husband, and if anyone takes his views on marriage seriously, they’re a joke.

You can’t claim the “moral” high ground when you have cheated on two wives and been married 3 times, and you’ve been such a bad father that your children want nothing to do with you. So much for family values.

Also, a Siena Research Institute poll released today shows support for marriage equality in NY is stronger than ever (even as numbers for Gov. Paterson’ favorability and job performance decline).

By a 53-39 percent margin, voters support the Senate passing a bill to legalize same sex marriages that would virtually ensure its becoming law. Democrats, independent and young voters, and women strongly support Senate passage.  Republicans strongly oppose passage, with men, older voters, African Americans, and Protestants also opposed.  Support is strongest in New York City.  Every region of the state supports passage.

“By a fairly significant margin, voters would like to see New York join with Vermont, Massachusetts, Iowa, and other states in allowing same sex couples to marry here,” Greenberg said. “For women and young voters it?s a resounding “yes.? Men and older voters are more closely divided and more likely to say “no? “

When you’re a rich white republican gay man, I guess you can afford to think that someone is supporting your oppression only because they want political power and recognition, rather than because they personally don’t like you. Because, duh, you’re not being particularly oppressed. (Hint: if you have a spare room and ancillary space sufficient for the effing mayor and you live in new york city, you are not oppressed. Or at least you are not allowed to sing the blues.)

Giuliani = irrelevant.

”Marriage, I believe, both traditionally and legally, has always been between a man and a woman and should remain between a man and woman,” said Giuliani

Will someone please send this man a Bible or a history book?  Or maybe the problem is his vocabulary and we should send him a dictionary with “traditional” highlighted.

How the hell are religious beliefs separate from personal beliefs? Are ridiculous rationalizations like that how gay republicans sleep at night?

Comment #6: DC Fem  on  04/20  at  02:39 PM

The Rudster must be positioning himself for a run a national office, again.  There would be NO reason for someone running for NY governor or Senator to come so hard against marriage equality at this point.  He gains nothing with NY voters as this is not really a major issue for most of them, even the GOPers.
What a doofus.

I’m always surprised by how many publications seem to out Giuliani as the lowest of the low. A lot of times magazines and newspapers don;t seem to focus on one figure so negatively but I have read serveral articles where people have stated flat out “He’s a dick”. He seems to be personally liked by virtually no one. Politcally he is a waste of space and the more he talks the more of a weasle he shows himself to be.

The homosexual agenda apparently involves letting people who support discrimination crash in the guest bedroom/house.

Frightening stuff, indeed.

Thompson must have stolen enough of Giuliani’s thunder (of incompetence) that he still thinks he has a shot at the presidency.
