Shorter Ed Morrissey

When George W. Bush commissions a report and that shit isn’t done instantaneously, it’s because it was done on colored people’s time.

The arguments they keep spewing about veterans are such disingenuous bullshit.  The VFW has said it has no problems with the report - and anyone who has read the damned thing knows that it doesn’t view returning veterans categorically as a threat, but instead simply points out that groups that ARE threats will likely recruit among veterans.  For the reasons that if you’re starting a civil war, it helps to have somebody who can shoot a gun.  Duh.

While we agree that we must fight extremists who are both foreign and domestic we are troubled by some of the statements your department included as fact in the report titled above, without listing any statistical data to back up such claims.

God fucking dammit, where were your Democrat counterparts in the run up to the Iraq Invasion?

From Morrissey’s post:

Secondly, and most obviously, this report was dated April 7, 2009, almost 3 months after Bush left office.

Just when does the new administration take responsibility for reports they release? 2013? For people who thought Bush was such a dunce, they seem to give him remarkable powers to control government months after he’s retired to Crawford.

If Morrissey really thinks that it’s possible to conduct a nationwide survey of shady political groups — which, because of their political programs, are not particularly inclined to be all sunshine and flowers with the government suits who come calling — in less than three months, I’d like to see him try it.

The problem with ideologically-motivated lying is that it’s just so fucking obvious.

God fucking damnit.

Just b/c everything changed after 9/11 doesn’t mean we should forget what happened before 9/11.

Namely the largest act of terrorism—the Oklahoma City bombing—performed by veteran Timothy McVeigh.

What the fuck do they mean “Where’s the data that vets are recruited by right wingextremists?”

Have they completely forgotten little Bayley and the Murrah Building?

I bet if the DHS had put out a report about the ELF and the Sierra Club as terrifying terrorist organizations bent on terrorizing America, the wingnuts would be all over it, praising how thoughtful Mr. Bush was to be looking ahead at America’s next terrorism source and commissioning a report like that…and criticizing Obama because he didn’t think of that…

Of course they have. If there’s one characteristic that is fundamental to ideologues of all stripes, leanings, and persuasions, it’s that any fact that is even remotely inconvenient to one’s worldview is aggressively rationalized away, if not denied outright.

MikeEss, that’s the hilarious part, they DID mention ELF, and several other radical environmental and anarchist groups…but that’s just being reasonable, because we radicals are the Eebil, but those poor, poor right-wingers are being victimized!
