Next entry: If you can’t do it for the country, do it for yourselves Previous entry: Laying Pipe

Shorter Megan McArdle

It was positively loony when right wingers said that the government was full of jackbooted thugs coming to kill them, and it’s positively loony when liberals point out that it’s crazy for right wingers to think that the government is full of jackbooted thugs coming to kill their grandmother

Fairness.

I went to Journalism school over 30 years ago, but tired of inadequate the “He said, she said” model long, long ago.

It’s not only inaccurate, it’s not even informative.

I’d given up on TV news, radio news, and some local paper news (the Los Angeles Times moves in and out of being a joke according to the year or decade.)

Thanks to the progressive blogs (Air America and some of MSNBC) I became engaged with political reporting again, in a positive way.

In today’s America, no one to the left of Joe Lieberman actually exists.

“Liberals” are talked about a lot, there are many unsupported claims that they have been seen in the wild, but no one can prove that such “liberals” are anything more real or substantial than ghosts.

The political spectrum consists of (and has only consisted of) “centrists”, “conservatives”, and “ultra-conservatives”.  There may have once been a “left” but if it did exist, it has not taken breath for many decades…

This is a powerful statement! I am constantly struck by the fact that I don’t trust any MSM sources at all. I read a wide number of sources and attempt to make my own opinion. But it leads me back to the never ending subjective/objective argument. You know the ones about “how do you know that what you see is really there.” Is it even possible to publish a widely read anything, that attempts to report facts (whatever a fact is) without giving in to the attempt to tweak the facts to support an agenda?
As an example, I took to reading HR3200, HR676, and the Senate versions directly from the house.gov and senate.gov websites because I don’t believe any MSM analysis of these bills anymore.

Yup, TV news is useless and dead-tree newspapers only worth it for the local content and the comics

And sports, lostmypassword. Don’t forget sports, though you can get a lot of that online now as well.

Remember when the wingers were trying to build up the meme that it was liberals completely fabricating angry right wing rioters.  This, in between segments highlighting guys with guns wandering the streets outside town hall meetings and waving signs while screaming at the tops of their lungs.

It’s freak’n laughable.  They’re not good liars.  McArdle certainly no exception.

I cannot believe that twit writes for the Atlantic.  She doesn’t take criticism very well, as evidenced by her insistence on responding frostily to nearly every commenter who disagrees with her.

They are lucky she doesn’t hit them over the head with a 2X4 . . .

Remember the good old days of right bloggers decrying “Bush Derangement Syndrome”?

Megan McArdle is a Libertarian.  Why are we pretending she is sane?

I totally can. Have you seen some of the rubbish they publish?

If you worked in the business like judybrowni, you’d be even more inclined to eat that sausage. Especially when you see smarmy suck-ups like McArdle regularly make their way into management and editorial positions far over their heads.

“If I were to select a jack-booted group of fascists who are
perhaps as large a danger to American society as I could pick today,
I would pick BATF.”
Dean of the House of Representatives John Dingell, in either 1980 or 1982
