Next entry: Sixty To Seventy Thousand Is The Loneliest Number Previous entry: Oxymoron entertainment: Rethug birther rapper Hi-Caliber entertains teabagger set in DC

Teabagger calls the President an ‘Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug” on AC360

Good god—the bile just flows continuously out of these beasts on the right; people like Mark Williams let their bigoted *sses hang out on international TV without a care in the world—but claims he and the teabagger movement aren’t racist. Say it, class—“You Lie!”  Devona Walker at The Loop:

Tea Party leader Mark Williams called President Obama an “Indonesian Muslim turned Welfare thug,” last night on Anderson Cooper 360 in a segment where he was trying to deny any racist motivations behind the Tea Party protest.

Williams denounced those carrying blatantly racist signs against President Obama during the tea parties as “no more part of the mainstream of America than the hippies who wear nipple clips and feather boas in San Francisco streets during so-called peace demonstrations.”

“What you’re saying makes sense to me here when I’m hearing what you say but then I read on your blog, you say, you call the President an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief,” Anderson Cooper said.  “Yeah, that’s the way he’s behaving,” Williams said. “He’s certainly acting like it. Until he embraces the whole country what else can I conclude.”

You see, Williams can say what he did without a bit of guilt that he’s crossed some sort of line in defense of racism. Why? Because the people in question didn’t burn a cross on a lawn or drag a black man tied to the back of a pickup truck down a road until his limbs fell off. THOSE PEOPLE are the racists, right?

Just because you don’t use the N-word doesn’t mean you are not a racist. Just because you call your movement one of “angry, working-class Americans” does not provide cover for the fact that you are leading a racist mob. Just because you don’t explicitly tell people to assassinate the president, abortion doctors, gays, Hispanic-Americans or illegal immigrants, you may still have blood on your hands if you cheerlead them on and provide propaganda as fuel.

Well if someone ordered a set of Klan sheets for Williams, he would wear them very well, thank you.

Hippies wear nipple clips?

If someone’s wearing a feather boa, it isn’t really a peace march?

Not to distract from the main point here, but the wingnut reflex to never defend, never explain, never admit to any error whatsoever leads to some pretty funnt sentences sometimes.

. Maybe someone should write a book based on all the Reich Wing has done and said since the primaries.

Comment #2: pitbullgirl65  on  09/15  at  05:21 PM

Wait. I certainly do NOT embrace the whole country. Does that make me an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief? Or am I just acting the part?

Comment #3: Sarcastro  on  09/15  at  05:26 PM

Watching James Carville cracking up is way more entertaining than it should be. His face crinkles up into what I can only assume would (allowed to develop to its natural conclusion) result in a sort of liberal quantum singularity. The black hole of homobortionfare.

Comment #4: Mighty Ponygirl  on  09/15  at  05:34 PM

Does Mark Williams embrace the whole country? Doesn’t sound like it. He certainly doesn’t embrace the guy who got 59 million votes for president.

Comment #5: RickMassimo  on  09/15  at  05:34 PM

“He certainly doesn’t embrace the guy who got 59 million votes for president.”

...well, those people are clearly not Real Americans, so of course he doesn’t embrace them…

Comment #6: MikeEss  on  09/15  at  05:37 PM

When Williams bemoans “the corporate takeover of Washington” was he in a fucking coma during the Bush years?

Comment #7: CHV  on  09/15  at  05:47 PM

Until he embraces the whole country what else can I conclude.

And by embracing Williams means Obama needs to co-opt the Right’s agenda to levels never before seen in the Democratic Party.

Comment #8: Lesly  on  09/15  at  06:05 PM

I think Mark Williams is a tad confused. He thought it was a peace demonstration but really it was just an ordinary day in The Castro.  It’s an easy mistake to make if one is completely clueless.  He should talk about being a teabagger there.  He’d be very popular.

Comment #9: BadKitty  on  09/15  at  06:27 PM

Ordinarily I find Carville highly annoying but his response to Cooper using Williams’ words against him was quite appropriate.

And it’s not that Obama is an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and racist in chief, it’s that he acts like one.  What exactly does an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug act like?  (As opposed to a run of the mill welfare thug who, presumably, forces welfare upon unwilling bootstrappers who were minding their own business waiting for their Medicare chec?)

The last time a President did his best to embrace the whole country, the right wing impeached him for it…

Pam…just curious where the outrage is from you and the left when Bill Maher called Mrs. Obama a “Hoe in the garden”???  Hypocrite as usual….the left has been silent on that little joke, but I guarantee if that had been a rightwing comic or commentator you assclowns would be going crazy! Again, this is why the majority of Americans think you’re a joke!

Comment #13: cookie  on  09/15  at  08:59 PM

You just know Mark Williams years to wear assless chaps and get his nipples pierced. Doesn’t “Mark Williams” sound like a gay porn name?

cookie, 2 guidelines for posting:
1) Yelling at someone for something they didn’t write is not usually productive
2) Complaining about incidents without context or links is also no usually productive.

Meet those, and you might find people at least marginally willing to respond to you. (Although coherence, factual accuracy, and logic also help…)

Yeah, I said he was an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug, but I didn’t say he was a bad Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug.

I’m sure that Williams will be stricken from the CNN rolodex any time now.

jalmondale, it’s worth pointing out that Maher didn’t actually call Michelle Obama a Hoe in the garden. Cookie is repeating a right wing smear.

Hey Cookie - how does anything Pam Spaulding has written, or failed to write, affect the truth or falsity of the statements pouring from Williams’ mouth?

That was a rhetorical question, by the way; Williams is a witless asshole no matter who reports on his racist exploits. He called Obama an Indonesian Muslim welfare thug. When reminded of this, he back-peddled a bit and claimed that Obama is merely acting the part of an Indonesian Muslim welfare thug.

How does one act like an Indonesian, as opposed to like some other ethnicity? What are the criteria for that? (Obama is an American citizen, and always has been. He’s no more Indonesian than Dumbya is European.)

Oh, and wouldn’t acting like a Muslim entail things like, oh, say, worshiping at a mosque? Observing Muslim dietary restrictions? Believing the things related in the Koran? There’s no evidence - none whatsoever - that Obama meets any of these criteria. (It’s amazing how you dimwits can trip over yourselves in an attempt to paint Jeremiah Wright - a Christian pastor - as a terribly bad influence on Obama while at the same time claiming the President is a flaming, dyed in the wool Muslim. You teabag brains should at least agree on what line of bullshit to sell before puking up this kind of bile.)

How do people on welfare act? What criteria does one have to meet to be considered a thug?

With his comment, Williams barfed up a wholly indefensible lie - and when called on that lie, he moved the goal posts a little and hoped none of his supporters would notice.

And you’re so busy flyspecking the people sharing this story to recognize that Williams pulled a fast one on you.

If you think Obama is lying about something specific, prove it.

If you think he’s a Muslim, prove it.

If you think he’s secretly collecting welfare, prove it.

In other words, put up or shut up. Stop wrecking your own country with this endless stream of bullshit.

You know, the President has spent less time on the public dole than Lindsay Graham.

Not that I begrudge Graham for collecting money for adopting his sister after their parents died ... just that, well, wow.

Hey rightwing assholes.

YOU LOST! and you didn’t lose for any other reason than YOUR GUYS HAD THEIR CHANCE AND THEY MASSIVELY FUCKED EVERYTHING UP BECAUSE YOUR WORLDVIEW SUCKS AND DOESN’T WORK.

There is no conspiracy - there is only YOUR FAIL FAIL FAIL.

Deal with it like a grown up or STFU already!

Comment #23: Ms Kate  on  09/16  at  10:10 AM

Hey, if those people carrying racist signs aren’t a part of the teabagger movement, your parade marshals can tell them to put down the signs or get out of the march. That’s private action, so it wouldn’t be interfering with their free speech rights.

What I want to know is how soon before an outrage congress passes a resolution condemning the teabaggers the way they did MoveOn.

Oh, wait. Nevermind.

Wow….Kate forgot to take her medication this morning or perhaps she just needs a hug.  What great logic you have there….we lost, so grow up?  using that logic, so it is ok since your president one for him to run the country into the fucking ground.  You guys use Bush as an example of destroying the country, your president is going to do 10X as much damage to the economy.  trillion dollar healthcare, trillions in stimulus, who do you think is paying for that??  Hey DUMBASS, it’s you and me.  Yea, you might have won, but you got a real loser for a president.

P.S.  did you know that the president is black.  FYI

Alas, Cookie, your noble rant is murder’d by a base-born fact: Obama’s policies appear to be working.

I’m always amused how “The only Real Working Class Americans” are white.  All those brown Americans who keep this counrty working, who in many cases work shoulder to shoulder with “Real Working Class Americans” must just be 3/5 of an American.

I’ve had these not-“Real Working Class Americans” work my @ss into the ground them pick up my load and finish off their 8 - 10 hour work day.  And it pisses me off to see them not get any respect by these stuffed shirt entitlement babies.

I guess she should have used the phrase you guys used for 8 years so you would understand:  “You lost—get over it.”

Sauce, goose, gander, etc.  If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t have dished it out.

Comment #30: Ms Kate  on  09/16  at  02:24 PM

Hey Cookie - are you going to pony up proof for the truth of Wilson’s claim, or are you just going to keep babbling like an idiot?

The economy was strong when Bush entered office, and it collapsed before he left. Now Obama has to pick up the pieces. He offered nearly a trillion bucks in (mostly) corporate stimulus to keep society running, then threw a bone to the working class as well by trying to universalize health care.

Your reaction: “OMG. He’z triing to destry teh country ZOMG!1!!” Yeah, because he’s so much worse than the guy who started two different wars on two different fronts without a cogent plan for how to end either of them.

I’ve concluded that you’re hopelessly stupid.

Comment #31: Nil  on  09/16  at  07:09 PM

Oh, and for extra credit, give me proof of Williams’ claim as well.

Comment #32: Nil  on  09/16  at  07:11 PM

You guys use Bush as an example of destroying the country, your president is going to do 10X as much damage to the economy.

The Bush economy was built on the housing bubble, fueled by Bush’s “ownership society” plan to make loans to people who could not afford to pay them back. Wall Street took those high interest loans, bundled them together, pretended that they were just as likely to be paid off as conventional loans made to creditworthy individuals, got the rating agencies to rate them AAA, and commenced selling them to each other. Then they took bets that they would fail. Which they did.

Meanwhile, AIG offshored all of their profits, which worked till their bets turned sour and they went belly up. However, they did not turn to the taxpayers of, say Bermuda, to bail them out. They turned to the US taxpayers who had been carrying AIG’s share of the load all along.

So Obama is unlikely to do worse than Bush, because Obama is not an idiot bought and paid for by greedy idiots.
