This Is What It Sounds Like When Doves Spit On Your Grave

Mumbles the Press Secretary has determined that Osama bin Laden wasn’t behind 9/11

I’m kind of okay with her falling into a deep, dark hole and people passing by the vague mumbling until she claws her way out.  Just saying.

Ahhhh, so it is all okayyyy that we don’t have Bin Laden in custody right now, that our president is an idiot and the Republicans aren’t very good warmongers at all!  Never mind Operation Whack-a-Mole ... we got the guy who planned it!  Tis Enough!

How much did the Bin Ladin family pay for that spin, eh?  What favors does the Bush family owe them this time?  Or is this just an elaborate coverup for going into Iraq when we should have beefed up the Afganistan forces???

Memory hole operation complete.

Comment #6: Well, what?  on  09/11  at  12:29 PM

You know she didn’t come up with that crap on her own.  This is apparently the new 9/11 talking point, almost certainly decided by Cheney and sent down the line to share with us proles…

Comment #7: MikeEss  on  09/11  at  12:34 PM

Well that’s good news. That means we no longer need McCain’s “Double Super Secret Plan To Capture Bin-Laden That I’m Only Going To Tell Anyone About If I’m Elected”.

They got Zacharias Moussaoui and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Stop complaining. 9/11 was a long time ago, stop dwelling on the past. Next question.

Comment #11: Johnboy  on  09/11  at  12:58 PM

It was all a simple misunderstanding on the part of Ms. Perino—she thought the questioner had asked her when Barak Obama would be taken into custody for his role in 9-11 . . .

We should have figured it would come down to this eventually.  These sociopaths don’t admit mistakes. The logical conclusion to the last 7 years of their failed policies would be what the mouth piece just allowed to be said:  No clue here, either.

Ahh, the typical whining, ranting and claptrap. What do you care who was behind 9/11, anyway? Aren’t you just glad it happened because we as a nation are so evil and accursed that we deserved it? Not that your utterly misguided indignation is likely to win you this election.

“What do you care who was behind 9/11, anyway?”

I find it fascinating how a political party completely dedicated to having “another Pearl Harbor” to justify another raid on Iraq’s oil just happened to get lucky enough to have 9/11 occur on their watch — just in the nick of time…

“Aren’t you just glad it happened because we as a nation are so evil and accursed that we deserved it?”

Yeah, because all us Dirty Fucking Hippie Libruls celebrate the deaths of Americans and others at every opportunity, when we’re not plotting new ways to put fluoride into America’s drinking water to turn innocent Americans into mindless communist zombies.  Just as you and General Jack D. Ripper suspected, we’ve been trying to sap and impurify America’s precious bodily fluids for decades.

It’s same way you wingnuts were “glad it happened” because you want the oil.  Except of course you wingnuts really were glad 9/11 happened.  It was a great cover for destroying America’s Constitution and our standing among other nations of the world, while diverting billions into what (real) Republican president Dwight D. Eisenhower correctly called the Military Industrial Complex.

You of course don’t see that because you’re too caught up in worrying about the sexism you see when Obama used the lipstick/pig aphorism against McCain and his Cheney/Bush policies…

Comment #38: Mnemosyne  on  09/11  at  03:52 PM

Mike, you’re seriously not a Troofer are you?

I think he’s just trying to make the point that if anyone in America is glad that 9/11 happened, it’s Teh Republican Overlords.  It was very, very convenient and lucky for them that everything went down the way it did.

Am I the only one who still remembers the decidedly glum “George W. Bush: The First Hundred Days” postmortems?

Comment #39: The Opoponax  on  09/11  at  03:56 PM

Mike, you’re seriously not a Troofer are you?

You can think that the Republicans exploited 9/11 for all it was worth after it happened without being a Troofer.

I can’t speak for Mike, but my personal opinion is that Bush ignored the warnings because his good buddies in Saudi Arabia (like Bandar Bush) told him Bin Laden was nothing to worry about.  Whoops—so much for that analysis, huh, George?  But thinking that the Bush administration fucked up and let it happen isn’t the same as thinking they planned it.

Ok, that’s what I thought, too, and I agree.

But they didn’t actively carry it out or even think that (less preposterously) let it happen on purpose, either. It was a government fuck up.

Comment #41: Ben D.  on  09/11  at  03:58 PM

A government fuck up cynically exploited for years on end for crass political gain, but still a government fuck up.

Comment #42: Ben D.  on  09/11  at  04:00 PM

“Mike, you’re seriously not a Troofer are you?”

...no, but you have to admit it doesn’t look good.

If there hadn’t been a previous decade of NeoCon whining about reasons for invading the Middle East, it wouldn’t have the appearance of being any more than a simple tragedy.

I firmly believe any conspiracy involved with 9/11 started afterward with using it as justification for every police state action the Reichwing had a hard on for.  And that’s well documented fact.

But then I don’t believe in Kennedy Assassination conspiracy either, even though there are a lot of interesting things involved with that tragedy…

Any lawyer will tell you there are always loose ends at the end of any case, even when the guy is obviously guilty.

Comment #44: Ben D.  on  09/11  at  04:04 PM

“Any lawyer will tell you there are always loose ends at the end of any case, even when the guy is obviously guilty.”

Sure.  I’ve figured for a long time that just about any event, even the most mundane, if examined in sufficient depth will reveal anomalies that may appear to be very strange and unaccounted for in the basic narrative of the event.

Life is freakin’ complicated…

Comment #45: MikeEss  on  09/11  at  04:09 PM

The reason I really have it out for Troofers is because everytime they open their mouths 1)the Republicans pick up five more votes, and 2) about 100 more people cease to take seriously areas where there is way WAY more likely to be a government coverup (Iraqi WMDs and Anthrax).

Comment #46: Ben D.  on  09/11  at  04:11 PM

I’ve always felt like if the Bush Administration was anywhere near as infallibly clever as any of the Truther conspiracies make it out to be, we’d be a lot worse off than we are right now.  I’ll admit I thought some of the stories had legs back in ‘03 and ‘04 because of how ridiculously fucked up everything was, the leadup to the war in Iraq, and the like.  But now, no way.  If they were really that good, they’d have had us all in concentration camps years ago.

Comment #47: The Opoponax  on  09/11  at  04:17 PM

“If they were really that good, they’d have had us all in concentration camps years ago.”

That has been one of the main reasons why I’m upset over the “expansion” or presidential power, the lunacy of “Fourth Branch” and the emasculation of Congress.

The Cheney/Bush people just aren’t competent enough to use those tools efficiently.  But that doesn’t mean the next POTUS will be just as incompetent…

Comment #48: MikeEss  on  09/11  at  04:22 PM

my personal opinion is that Bush ignored the warnings because his good buddies in Saudi Arabia (like Bandar Bush) told him Bin Laden was nothing to worry about.

I’ve always thought it was because the whole Bin Laden, non-state-sponsored terrrorists thing was a Clinton thing, and thus not a threat to be concerned about. Different path, same outcome.

Comment #49: Dweeze  on  09/11  at  04:56 PM

They looooove the ideal of empire.  The reality?  You mean, it’s ... like, work?

Comment #50: Ms Kate  on  09/11  at  04:57 PM

My biggest beef with Truthers is the fact that the majority of them seem absolutely dead-set on the idea that the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon were hit by missiles/rockets/lasers/orbital Thor projectiles/holograms/covert teams of special ops demolition crews, instead of suffering damage consistent with being hit by fuel-laden airliners.  They take the reasonable concerns about the laxness of the Bush Administration in the summer of 2001 and bring them down to Infowars LaRouchite territory with their halfbaked theories about thermite and “minimum freefall time” and “molten steel” and “missing plane parts” and whatever else.

Comment #51: N.C.  on  09/11  at  06:04 PM

NC

It is as if they are people who don’t trust Bush administration, but who have a rather black and white view of reality. If there were lies and schemes associated with 9/11, then in their minds, the entire thing must have been a lie and a scheme.

If the whole thing was a lie and a scheme, then it must have been done, not by radical Islamist terrorists, but instead by Mossad, the CIA, or MI5. The towers must not have been brought down, not by the planes crashing into them while full of jet fuel, but by missiles or a demolition crew.

Somehow, by exposing problems with 9/11 itself, they prove that it’s all bullshit. Total bullshit. Like the Malkin-ites or Little Green Footballs fans who prove that Iraq is really a peaceful paradise - because CNN darkened the smoke in a photograph.

Comment #52: atheist  on  09/11  at  06:33 PM

I would also guess it’s because, as I learned in the weekend or so that I once dabbled in nutty conspiracy theories, they’re ultimately just a bunch of d00ds who like talking about weapons and tech and military stuff.  All conspiracy theorists are pretty much obsessed with either weaponry/technology or classified military documents, and don’t seem to be terribly interested in people or motives or social dynamics or any of the more interesting facets of their conspiracies.  They want to talk about what kinds of engines the black helicopters would need to have.

Comment #53: The Opoponax  on  09/11  at  08:55 PM

Didn’t Osama once say on video “i didn’t think the buildings would completely collapse”? He thus admitted he knew the details of the 9/11 attacks.

Comment #54: Bacopa  on  09/11  at  10:52 PM

Antisocial, obsessed… yup. I’m sure many of them are way into weaponry/technology, but I don’t think all of them are. I’ve talked to some who aren’t, anyhow.

I can even identify with them, but there’s just this cool, skeptical, part of me that asks, “Is that shit really true?” and finds the whole theory wanting. They seem to lack this cool, skeptical part, or something like that.

Comment #55: atheist  on  09/12  at  08:05 AM

I think it might come back to their black & white thinking. Social dynamics, people and motives might be too disappointingly amorphous and grey. They are looking for something definite, something quick, that will show how the entire story of 9/11 is nothing but a lie.
