No, not really. Mary Travers died yesterday.
But I do promise that the juxtaposition had not occurred to me. This was just my favorite Cracker song, and what the world DID need now was a Cracker song.
true, but I found out today, which means it “happened” today.
And it is a great song.
And the most glorious Cracker song of all, which is not relevant to anything at all, I guess, except for being glorious.
“Dr. Bernice” just plain rules. Have you heard the version they did with FSK on the Bob’s Car fan club album? It’s spine-shiveringly good.
I had a long-sleeve t-shirt of theirs in college that just said “CRACKER” on the back. Got a lot of weird looks.
In other news, this is the first I’ve heard of Mary Travers being dead. I grew up listening to my Mom’s old PP & M records. Sad.
I’m also especially fond of One Fine Day which we saw them play in Little Rock on an “Acoustic Duo” tour. Johnny Hickman really is magnificent. Until the hard drive died, our desktop background was a shot of my girlfriend sandwhiched inbetween David and Johnny, taken after the show. Nice guys.
Aw, man, now I have to hunt down the rare stuff. You guys are such enablers.
I love Cracker and Camper.
