When Repubs Try To Get At You

MSNBC informs me conservatives are all aflutter at this video:

The operative meme seems to be that Obama, in his responsibility to answer for all black people everywhere, has not protected his daughters from all exposure to all controversial Negroes in all media forms.  Particularly not Negroes who spend 17 weeks in the Billboard top 10 singles list, and find their music used for everything from ringtones to TV commercials, and most likely playing in the passing cars of a significant number of residents of the South Side of Chicago.

When he’s done mopping up this mess, maybe he can explain why the black waiter at Don Pablo’s didn’t bring me fresh chips when I asked for them.  Where’s the personality accountability, you postracial Messiah-looking motherfucker?

I think I may have to get away from the computer for a while today, lest I kill something.

It’s Obama talking about how his daughter thought the chorus to “Drop It Like It’s Hot” was “Drop It Like A Sock”.

In any other context, a cute anecdote about a familiar song.

In this context, a black dude infecting his black daughter with the pervasive evils of the black community.

I think he should be made responsible for House of Payne.  Maybe not for the actual show, which I haven’t seen, but for the countless commercials which I have…

Oh and Jesse, did you shout out “I want some more chips, MFer!”.  It works for O’Reilly…

the video closes with (this appears to be done at some kind of radio station event) the radio people dropping a beat behind Obama, and the crowd (this is subbed in) starts chanting “obama.. obama… obama…”  a scene which will no doubt cause large swaths of indiana, southern illinois and ohio, and much of W. Va to suddenly see themselves naked inside large pots of boiling water whilst the Obamatoned folk dance around them to their hippity-hop music.

In other words, this is just more of “ZOMG!!! HE’S BLACK!!!!”

So they’re upset because he let’s them watch T.V.? believe me, they are NOT playing the explicit version on MTV. This is the lamest crap ever. They are really desperate aren’t they?

Comment #6: Mark  on  08/04  at  03:14 PM

It’s a shame, cuz I really like Willie Nelson, but I guess we gotta go link that drug smoking tax-cheat to McCain now.

Okay fellow conspirators.  Time to commence operation Whisky River .... 3 ... 2 ... .

I’m sure that not a single parent in this country will be able to identify with this story.  Nope, not a single one.  Because it’s not like every parent or grandparent of my acquaintance spends hours telling me stories about the cute thing their kid said yesterday or anything.

Not only is Obama responsible for the behavior of all black people (just like any other African-American public figure), he’s also responsible for the behavior of any of all of his supporters at any time—especially on the internet.  He’s particularly responsible for the behavior of Repub trolls who claim to be Obama supporters.

Comment #9: Captain Bathrobe  on  08/04  at  04:07 PM

I’m just glad that as the music comes on all of a sudden, Obama is able to groove competently without losing his dignity. No small task.

Comment #10: jkd  on  08/04  at  04:42 PM

OMG, I laughed out loud when the sound guy apparently cut his mike to run the music and Obama starts to move with the music and the crowd chants his name. He really is a natural at handling himself in the public eye.

So if I ever run for high office, I won’t tell anyone about my 2 1/2 year old’s charming rendition of “I’m sorry Ms. Jackson.”

Now that’s an idea for an Obama for America campaign ad. “Senator McCain and the GOP - Drop ‘em like they’re hot!”

Speaking as a current Southern Indiana resident and former Southern Illinois resident…screw you! There are a hell of lot more Obama than McCain supporters around. You know, we aren’t as backwoods and hick as you’d like us to be – we vote on the issues, just like you.

So, enough with the stereotyping, m’kay? I get plenty of that just from being a woman, thank you.

You might want to take a gander at the numbers from 2004 when Obama won Illinois by 70 percent before you make that decision.  He didn’t win just because people in Chicago voted for him—an awful lot of downstaters did, too.

More likely they’re watching that and saying, “But he’s not like that at all.  We’ve met him.”

Comment #15: Mnemosyne  on  08/04  at  06:28 PM

Maybe the main reason (among thousands of others) why conservatives are so terrified of Obama is that he may become the first president in US history with a sense of rhythm.

Comment #16: CHV  on  08/04  at  07:46 PM

seriously wtf. second thread i encounter where some commenter attacks a broad group of people as dumb fucking yocals based on in this case georgraphy, the other on group affiliation with bikers.

perhaps i do not belong on this website, being from rural illinois and related to bikers.

john mccain is a douchebag, and while some poverty level and working class white people may vote for him, from what i just heard from keith olberman on my color teevee, obama is actually leading amongst poor whites.

kthxbai.

also, obamas anecdote is adorable. little kids mishearing things then repeating what they think they heard is the height of cuteness, like a basket of puppies and kittens.
