National Groups Come Together To Fight Media Bias. The people maintaining the venue for this conference of wingnuts, fundies and professional homophobes, must have needed to fumigate the place after this get together (it was supposed to have taken place last week). The event was organized by Don Irvine, the chairman of the wingnut media watchdog organization Accuracy in Media, and this is what was said about the meeting:
“We all know the role a biased, leftist media played in selecting Barack Obama, who was largely a media creation. In the last election, the media’s support was worth hundreds of millions of dollars and legions of campaign workers. It seems with each election cycle, the media becomes more biased and more brazen. If we don’t act now, 2010 and 2012 will be disastrous repeats of 2008.
The purpose of this summit is to formulate a joint plan of action to confront and combat media bias that much of the conservative movement’s leadership can endorse and participate in..
The author of this article in The Bulletin, Herb Denenberg, was also invited, and he came up with some talking points to explore with his colleagues, including:
* Media Bias Can Literally Destroy The U.S
* The Importance Of The Alternative Media
* Growing More Media Boycotts
* Bringing Together All Victims Of Media Bias
* Opening Up Presidential Press Conferences And Briefings
* Publicizing The Media Watchdogs
* A Drudge-Style Report On Media Bias
* Bringing Everyone Into The Anti-Bias Campaign
* Reminding The Media And Everyone Else Of The Role Of The Media
* Media Bias As Part Of A Larger Problem
Look at the cast of characters who attended the invitation-only summit.
The committee is made up by a high-powered group of nationally known figures that include Mr. Irvine, mentioned above; Gary Bauer, American Values; Bill Donohue, Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights; Wendy Wright, Concerned Women for America; Phyllis Schlafly, Eagle Forum; Morton Blackwell, The Leadership Institute; Brent Bozell, Media Research Center; and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas).
Since this was a super-secret meeting, I wonder how long it will be before we see any signs of “strategy”?

I remain astounded at the level of projection required for supporters of Dear Leader to claim that Obama is a media creation.
Whew!
Wow!
Shorter them:
“We’re going educate re-educate the 80% of you who don’t agree with the 20% of us. If you won’t do it willingly, there are camps, you know.
Let’s try milk and cookies and if that doesn’t work, I say they need a serious time out.
* A Drudge-Style Report On Media Bias
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh hai thar, Ladies Against Women!
“* A Drudge-Style Report On Media Bias
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
...I wonder if it will include proper techniques for doing media bias the Right Way — you know, the ones Faux, Limbaugh, wingnut bloggers, and Drudge have used all these years…
“We all know the role a biased, leftist media played in selecting Barack Obama, who was largely a media creation.”
I’m pretty sure Barack Obama is the creation of his mother and father.
But I am prepared to admit that Bush Jr. and “Big” Dick Cheney, not to mention John McCain and that former mayor of Wasilla, had an awful lot to do with his electoral success.
And let us not forget the stellar contributions of the “high-powered group of nationally known figures that include Mr. Irvine, mentioned above; Gary Bauer, American Values; Bill Donohue, Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights; Wendy Wright, Concerned Women for America; Phyllis Schlafly, Eagle Forum; Morton Blackwell, The Leadership Institute; Brent Bozell, Media Research Center; and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas).”
I’m sure they all did their best to fight for their causes...which did little beyond helping Obama become POTUS…
Here’s the problem as it has evolved.
They lie and then they have to lie about lying.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
At the end of the day, it looks as if there’s a bedrock 30 percent of people that wouldn’t know the difference between a rainstorm and somebody pissing on their shoes.
This meeting is an attempt to figure out why their propaganda only works on a third of the population and devise creative new ways to bamboozle some few percent of sane people away from the reality based community. Problem is, that once you’ve accustomed yourself to an habitual liar, the internal filters kick in and you can smell bullshit when a cow farts in Iowa.
Their lies (torture anyone?) are now so arrogant that they are akin to proclaiming the Earth is flat!
We could all help the Earth by reducing the carbon footprint of these useless self improvement Republican conferences. Troglodytes lack self awareness, so I’m going to help the goobers out with a little free advice:
If you want to try and make people believe that the Earth is flat, the use of
of a foul-tempered, bellicose fat man on the radio, a few carping females, and a smattering of macho-posturing overcompensating mama’s Fauxboys just ain’t gonna ‘get ‘er done’. Been there, done that. No matter how much these media mavens scream out about their newly found love of Flatlandia, the only people that risk “falling off the edge” are those these ideological freaks would ‘disappear’ without process. Flatlandians don’t tolerate dissent.
Starfleet does. See the new Trek.
Enjoy.
We really need to revive Bolshevism to push the Overton Window back the other way.
I keep wondering how hard it would be to set up a hoax organization designed to absorb every iota of their bizarre cult-like focus and essentially neutralize their efforts.
Will their strategy include an obvious first step? Don’t beg to be humiliated! For instance, when McCain made an issue of Bill Ayers, shouldn’t he have anticipated that the media would look fo skeletons in his own closet? The skel is named Gordon Liddy. In terms of nonrepentence and proximity to the respective candidate, Liddy is much worse. Even if intentionality was a wash, this media would still proclaim that McCain is saying that “Because Liddy was busted before he could carry out those plots of a terroristic nature, that makes him a better person.”
I’ve been watching the Republicans whine about the “Liberal media” for 39 years, and I have yet to see any of them criticize other Republicans for giving ammunition to this “enemy.” Even as a post-mortem, they have never said, “So and so should have realized what the media would do with that position.”
Either they know this “Liberal media” picture is the most pernicious lie of the post-Vietnam era--it maks the others possible, or they’re masochistically begging to be humiliated and the media, like the sadist in the old joke, say no.
Well of course the leftist media had to have brainwashed people into electing a black man. There is, of course, no other explana-- *breaks down sobbing*
We really need to revive Bolshevism to push the Overton Window back the other way.
They already have… for what that’s worth.
We all know that reality has a liberal bias. Maybe conservatives should boycott that too. Oh wait, they already do.
All of this flailing about and effing and jeffing by these people really does bring me a perverse sense of joy at the end of the day.
They really are imploding - hopefully taking everyone like minded down with them.
It’s astounding- like taking measures to revive a cadaver who has been dead for a few hours…
